“Chocolate” here means a rich brown watch dial, not a food theme. A January 2022 Fratello Watches roundup highlighted two luxury divers: Omega’s Seamaster 300 Bronze Gold and a 42 mm Longines Legend Diver. Their warm brown dials share a color palette, but their case materials, styling and price points differ. The roundup’s prices and specifications are historical; they do not establish what either watch costs or whether it is currently available.
What makes a watch dial “chocolate”?
Watch writers use “chocolate” to describe a deep brown dial, often with warm or reddish undertones. The phrase is a style description rather than a standardized color specification, so the appearance can vary with the dial finish, lighting and surrounding materials. The 2022 roundup’s personal enthusiasm was summed up by author Thor Svaboe: “What I do miss, though, is a tasty #CHOCOLATE dial in my watch box.”
For shoppers, the practical appeal is versatility: brown can feel softer and warmer than black while pairing naturally with leather and gold-toned details. A brown dial alone, however, does not tell you whether a watch is a dress watch or a tool watch; case design, bezel, strap and construction matter too.
Two chocolate-dial divers from the 2022 roundup
| Watch | Look and materials | Specifications and price cited in 2022 | What to verify now |
|---|---|---|---|
| Omega Seamaster 300 Bronze Gold | Deep chocolate-brown sandwich dial, warm gold-infused Bronze Gold case and a dressier diver appearance. | The roundup described the model and gave a historical price of just over $11,000. It did not provide a complete specification set in the available material. | Confirm the exact reference, current specifications, price and availability. Omega’s press-room page includes imagery identified as reference 234.92.41.21.10.001, but that does not establish current stock or pricing. |
| Longines Legend Diver | 42 mm case, chocolate-brown dégradé dial, black inner dive bezel and leather strap. | The roundup cited 300 m water resistance, 12.7 mm case height and a historical price of $2,300. These are the roundup’s 2022 claims, not confirmed current specifications or a current quote. | Check the exact reference and its current specifications, price and availability with Longines or an authorized seller. |
The contrast is more than a difference in brown. The Omega’s Bronze Gold case and sandwich dial give it a warmer, more polished character. The Longines pairs a gradient brown dial with a black internal bezel and leather, retaining a more overtly instrument-like diver layout. The roundup is an editorial selection, not a controlled comparison or performance test.

How to compare brown-dial watches before buying
Compare the exact references, not just the model names or dial color. A model family can include multiple sizes, materials and dial variants, and specifications can change across references or generations.
- Case dimensions: Check diameter and thickness against your wrist and how you intend to wear the watch.
- Dial and case: Look at the shade and finish in product images, and consider how a gold-toned or bronze-colored case changes the overall effect.
- Strap or bracelet: Confirm what is supplied and whether the attachment system allows a practical alternative.
- Water resistance: Verify the rating for the exact reference and do not treat a rating as a substitute for maintaining seals or following the maker’s care guidance.
- Movement and certification: Check the manufacturer’s specification for the particular reference; the 2022 roundup does not establish these details for the two picks.
- Price and availability: Use a current listing for your region. Historical article prices are not present-day quotes.
Brown-dial alternatives from Longines
Longines’ US site presents brown watches as a broader styling category, but its selection can change and does not confirm that the specific 2022 Legend Diver remains available. One distinct example on the brand’s US site is the Conquest Heritage, reference L1.649.4.62.2: the product page consulted lists a 38 mm automatic watch with a brown dial and a displayed US price of $3,300. That price is page-specific and may change; the Conquest Heritage is not the Legend Diver.

Strap choices and care
A brown leather strap can reinforce a chocolate dial’s warm, classic look. The 2022 roundup also considered a custom chocolate suede strap and suggested tropic or NATO straps for alternate diver styling. A strap that looks suitable is not automatically compatible: check lug width, end shape, buckle or clasp requirements, and the watch’s attachment mechanism before ordering.

For the referenced Omega model, Omega’s manual advises protecting its leather strap from water, humidity and prolonged sunlight to help prevent color change or distortion. The manual also recommends annual water-resistance testing at an authorized Omega service center. These are Omega recommendations for that model’s manual, not universal instructions for every watch or strap. Consult the manual for the exact watch you own.

The Fratello roundup appeared on January 4, 2022, and its cited prices—$2,300 for the Longines and just over $11,000 for the Omega—belong to that article’s historical context. They should not be used as current retail prices or evidence of present availability. Omega’s March 25, 2024 press-room page includes a gallery image identified as Seamaster 300 Bronze Gold reference 234.92.41.21.10.001, while Omega’s February 19, 2025 Bronze Gold release concerns a different Diver 300M collection with a black dial and burgundy bezel. That later watch should not be confused with the chocolate-dial Seamaster 300 described in 2022.
