Christian Etienne is the watchmaker-restorer associated with A La Clinique Horlogère in Porrentruy, Switzerland, and the watches sold under the Christian Etienne Porrentruy name. The name also appears in unrelated contexts, so this review concerns the Swiss watchmaker and his collection. Swiss-Watch-Passport’s 2024 profile describes an approach rooted in traditional watchmaking and the use of existing resources; that is the publication’s characterization, not a quantified environmental claim.
Which Christian Etienne watch are you considering?
The collection does not use one movement across every model. Etienne’s official biography says the collection began in 2019 with four models fitted with Peseux 260 movements. The separate Ω Project, covered by Fratello in 2022, uses restored vintage Omega 30T2-family movements. Confirm the exact reference and caliber before comparing specifications or making a purchase.
What makes the Ω Project different?
Its central proposition is the restoration and use of vintage Omega movements, paired with newly designed watch components. Fratello’s 2022 account says each movement is disassembled, assessed, repaired with parts replaced if necessary, cleaned, refinished and polished, then reassembled, cased and timed. It also reports that Etienne designed the cases, dials, hands and straps, which were produced with Swiss specialists, and describes the watches as Swiss-made and assembled in Switzerland. These are published descriptions, not findings from an independent inspection.

Fratello also quotes Etienne explaining the visual rationale for lapping a baseplate: “My reasons for lapping the baseplate was to provide the whole caliber some visual depth perception which would also accentuate other components; it also allows more light into the movement which is visually very attractive.” This describes an aesthetic choice, not a demonstrated improvement in performance.
What is the Omega 30 mm movement?
The Omega 30 mm family is a historically significant manual-winding movement line. Europa Star reports that it was manufactured from 1939 to 1963, with three million movements produced; the retrieved article does not state its publication year. Christian Etienne, identified there as a watchmaker, praises the caliber’s “simplicity, reliability, robustness and high chronometric precision.” That is his attributed assessment, not an independent accuracy measurement of the Ω Project watches.

The Ω Project is described as using 30T2-family movements, not necessarily an identical, untouched caliber in every watch. Since restoration can involve replacement parts, buyers should ask for the specific watch’s movement identification, service record, and parts-replacement details.
Price, quantity and warranty: what is documented?
Fratello’s 2022 report says the Ω Project’s first series comprised five watches per reference, with starting prices of CHF 4,500. It also reported a wooden presentation box, certificate, and one-year warranty. Those are historical terms from that article; they do not confirm current stock, pricing, production quantity, or warranty coverage. Verdict: who should consider a Christian Etienne watch?
The strongest case is for a buyer drawn to traditional restoration and historically interesting movements, especially the Ω Project’s reported Omega 30T2-family calibers. The documented restoration process and Etienne’s stated attention to movement presentation give the project a distinct identity.
