The Christophe Claret Poker is a mechanical automaton that stages a three-player game of Texas Hold’em on the wrist. Pushers deal and reveal the cards, privacy blinds conceal each player’s hand, and a cathedral gong sounds when a control is activated. This is a guide to its documented operation and editions—not a first-person review: the available accounts do not establish that the author handled or wore the watch.
How the Christophe Claret Poker watch works
The watch translates the sequence of a Texas Hold’em deal into a mechanical display. Three players each receive two private cards, then share five community cards: three for the flop, followed by the turn and river. Each player’s best five-card hand is made from their two private cards and the five shared cards.
Christophe Claret’s corporate press kit describes three player windows with concealed hands, controls for advancing the betting rounds, and a cathedral gong that sounds with each pusher activation. CNA’s 2020 account gives a more specific operating sequence:
- Shuffle and deal: press the pusher at 9 o’clock to initiate the shuffle and deal. Each player’s two private cards appear in an individual window, protected by a privacy blind.
- Reveal the flop: use the pusher at 10 o’clock to reveal the first three community cards.
- Reveal the turn and river: advance through the subsequent betting rounds with the other controls to show the fourth and fifth community cards.
- Compare hands: determine the winner from the best five-card combination available to each player from seven cards.
The blinds are central to the game display: they let players view their own private cards without exposing them to the others. The press kit also describes the rotor on the back as doubling as a roulette wheel.

What the published specifications tell us
The reported figures describe an intricate mechanical construction, but they are published specifications—not independent test results. The manufacturers’ figures and the accounts that report them should be read with their differing terminology in mind.
| Figure | What it refers to | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| 655 parts | Automatic PCK05 movement | CNA, 2020, reports a 655-part movement; WatchPro, 2015, independently describes 655 components. |
| 32,768 | Possible poker hands for one player, according to the cited descriptions | WatchPro, 2015, gives 32,768 different hands a player can be dealt from a 52-card deck. The manufacturer press kit describes 32,768 combinations per player. |
| 98,304 | Total combinations across three players | CNA, 2020, reports this total; the manufacturer press kit expresses it as 32,768 combinations per player, or 98,304 for three. |
| Over two years | Development effort involving two watchmaker-constructors working full time | The manufacturer press kit reports this effort; WatchPro, 2015, also reports two watchmakers working constantly for two years. The press kit’s publication date is not established. |
Those combination counts are not a statement that the watch’s deal has been independently verified as statistically fair. The press kit says the probabilities were calculated so that each player has approximately the same chance of winning; that is a claim by the manufacturer.
Original Poker and the 2020 edition
The Poker project grew out of Christophe Claret’s interactive gaming watches. WatchPro’s 2015 account places it after 21 Blackjack and Baccara and describes Poker as the most ambitious of the gaming-watch projects. CNA reports that Poker was the game Claret first wanted to make, but its complexity led the company to begin with 21 Blackjack in 2011; Baccara followed the next year.

| Edition | Documented distinguishing details |
|---|---|
| Original Poker | Unveiled in 2014, according to the supplied coverage; its dial uses stylized card motifs. The three-player Texas Hold’em mechanism is the central concept. |
| 2020 edition | CNA’s 2020 report describes a livelier miniature poker-table dial with tiny 3D chips and cards, a 45 mm case, and a 12-piece limited edition. The core three-player game mechanism remains the defining complication. |
The 45 mm case size and 12-piece limit belong to the 2020 edition as reported by CNA; they should not be assumed to apply to the original. Christophe Claret’s press kit calls Poker “an exceptional automaton watch.”
Price, availability, and the collector context
The available sources do not establish a current asking price, current availability, or a verified Poker transaction price. The presence of a related watch at auction does not answer those questions: Phillips’ Hong Kong catalogue records a Blackjack 21, reference OR012BLJ08, rather than a Poker. Its lot description identifies a 45 mm case, automatic BLJ08 calibre, 18k pink gold and titanium, and accessories including an instruction manual and playing cards.
For a potential purchase, verify the exact Poker reference and edition directly with the seller or auction house. Confirm condition, completeness, provenance, and the applicable auction terms; a catalogue entry for Blackjack 21 is not evidence of a Poker sale or valuation.
