The Christopher Ward x Studio Underd0g Alliance 02 is a sold-out, 100-piece pocket-watch collaboration with a seven-layer Super-LumiNova dial, a hand-wound movement and a stated 120-hour power reserve. At launch it cost £2,995, $4,150 or €3,895, and all project profits went to the Alliance of British Watch and Clock Makers.
What is the Alliance 02?
The Alliance 02 is a 44 mm stainless-steel pocket watch created by British brands Christopher Ward and Studio Underd0g. Studio Underd0g described it as a “world first—luminescent pocket watch.” The format was deliberately unconventional: Christopher Ward CEO and co-founder Mike France said, “When Richard pitched the idea of a pocket watch, we knew immediately it wasn’t the ‘sensible’ choice… so we said yes.” Europa Star, January 2026
It was made in a limited run of 100 individually numbered pieces. At launch, purchase access was exclusive to members of the Alliance of British Watch and Clock Makers, and all profits went to that organization, which represents the British watch and clockmaking trade. Europa Star
What makes the dial distinctive?
The dial is the watch’s defining feature: a brass base receives seven layers of custom Super-LumiNova pigment, while a 1.4 mm-thick sapphire chapter disc carries the printed minute track and Roman numerals. Polished steel alpha-style hands indicate the time, and a separate display shows the movement’s remaining power reserve. Christopher Ward
