Its layered, guilloche dial gives it visual depth, but reading the time at a glance takes some adjustment. The published specification is appealing for a design-led dress watch; the 30 m water resistance and region-specific price are important practical qualifications.
How do you read the Chronoswiss Flying Regulator?
The central hand shows minutes against the large outer minute scale. Hours and seconds are read on their own smaller subdials, rather than from a conventional set of hands sharing one central axis. That separation is the defining feature of a regulator watch: each unit of time has its own indication.
Robert-Jan Broer, writing for Fratello on August 29, 2016, reported that the arrangement may take a few attempts to read quickly if a wearer is unfamiliar with regulator dials. He wrote: “If you are not used to reading time from a regulator dial, it will take you a couple of times to be able to do it very quickly, but you will get easily used to it.” This is his observation from a week-or-so loan and photoshoot, not a standardized readability test.
What makes this model a “Flying Regulator”?
Chronoswiss describes the minute dial and the separate hour and seconds subdials as floating above a guilloche dial base. Bridges support the raised elements, leaving the patterned lower dial visible and creating the watch’s characteristic layered appearance. A domed sapphire crystal adds to the sense of depth.
#1 Best Overall
- Suitable for NH35/NH36/4R/6R watch movement
- Green luminous effect makes it glow at night or at the dark places.
- High precision machining, stable and reliable, with fine workmanship and exquisite appearance
- Reasonable design makes it easy and convenient to install and remove, and it is a wonderful replacement for broken or old one
- Multiple colors to choose to show your own personality and match your watch
Broer’s 2016 review likewise emphasizes the contrast between the bridges, prominent minute scale, smaller hour and seconds scales, and guilloche beneath. He found the result playful, stylish, and sophisticated, while noting that the dial is busier than a purist might prefer. The depth and ornament are central to the appeal; they are also why this is not the choice for someone who wants the simplest possible time display.

The 40 mm diameter is a useful starting point for considering fit, but the cited sources do not establish how the watch wears on different wrists or provide a controlled wrist-fit comparison. Likewise, the specification gives a movement name but no verified accuracy result or independent timing test.

What the specifications mean for everyday use
Regulator display and visual character
The separate scales reward attention to the dial and give the watch a distinctive identity. In return, the display is less immediately familiar than conventional central hours and minutes. If quick, effortless glances matter most, try reading a regulator display in person before choosing it. If you enjoy an unconventional layout and its layered construction, the learning curve may be part of the attraction.
Water resistance
Chronoswiss lists 30 m / 3 ATM water resistance. That figure should not be treated as evidence that this model is suited to swimming or other water activities: the available specifications do not establish an activity-specific use rating or an independent water-resistance test. Consider the watch’s intended use accordingly.

Broer’s review offers firsthand impressions of the dial, crown, caliber 122, and visible finishing based on a watch supplied for roughly a week and a photoshoot. He also places the Flying Regulator as the more elaborate, layered option in the family. His remarks about movement performance partly draw on owning an older Chronoswiss Régulateur, so they should not be read as a controlled performance test of this exact reference.

The available evidence does not establish an independent timekeeping result, water-resistance test, long-term reliability record, service interval, current secondary-market value, or strap width for the CH-1243.3-BLBL. Those points should not be inferred from the published specifications or the 2016 review.
