IWC says the display shows the arrival of the next high and low tide, alongside a double moon phase for the northern and southern hemispheres and an integrated neap- and spring-tide display. The available official material establishes what the watch is designed to indicate, but not how to set it or how its readings compare with local tide tables.
What the Moon & Tide complication indicates
IWC describes the tide display as showing the arrival of the next high and low tide. The product listing also specifies a double moon phase for the northern and southern hemispheres and an integrated indication of neap and spring tides. IWC called this its first watch with a newly developed tide indication in the 24 April 2020 announcement.
Those descriptions establish the displayed information, not the mechanism’s operating details. The cited product material does not explain calibration, location settings, or accuracy against local tide tables, so the display should not be treated as a substitute for a local forecast on the basis of these sources alone.
IW344001 and IW344002 compared
The 2020 announcement identifies reference 344001. IWC’s current regional product listing also identifies a steel version, IW344002; it should not be assumed to have been part of that original announcement. Specifications below are from IWC’s product listings accessed in 2026, and availability varies by region.

What the 2020 debut established
IWC announced the Portugieser Yacht Club Moon & Tide on 24 April 2020 and described it as the first IWC watch with its newly developed tide indication. In the same release, CEO Christoph Grainger-Herr said the Portugieser’s face had changed little over more than 80 years and described its design as remaining contemporary. That remark concerns the collection’s design, not the accuracy or performance of the tide display.
The official specifications make the Moon & Tide’s purpose clear: it combines tide and moon-phase information in a Yacht Club model. They do not provide a hands-on basis for judging wrist comfort, finishing, legibility, or real-world tide accuracy.
