Citizen Astrodea is a constellation-watch collection, but the detailed official Citizen manual available for this topic is for a Campanola-branded Constellation Watch—not an Astrodea reference. It documents how a Citizen celestial dial can work as a watch and a planisphere, but its features and specifications should not be assumed to apply to every Astrodea. Identify the exact reference before relying on its functions or setting instructions.
What does a Citizen Astrodea watch show?
The central idea is a wristwatch dial that represents the night sky. In Citizen’s documented Campanola Constellation Watch, a rotating constellation dial maps the changing arrangement of constellations alongside moon movements and can also be used independently as a planisphere. That manual describes additional astronomy displays, but it is evidence about that Campanola model, not a verified specification sheet for the Astrodea collection. Citizen’s official manual notes that designs and features vary by model.
On the documented Campanola watch, the display includes altitude and azimuth scales for mapped celestial objects, a local sidereal-time display and right-ascension scale to help orient the chart, approximate lunar age, a moon-position range, stellar spectral types, and a Polaris hour-angle aid. It also includes solar-position information, sunrise and sunset aids, and an astronomical-twilight indicator. Confirm any of these functions against the manual for the specific Astrodea reference you are considering.
How the documented sky dial is used
- Planisphere: the rotating constellation dial serves as a sky chart. Its mapped positions are based on epoch 2000.0.
- Solar position: markings show positions along the ecliptic for the 1st, 11th, and 21st of each month, using noon Universal Time over the mean year.
- Horizon estimate: a line on the transparent dial helps estimate sunrise and sunset times.
- Orientation aids: altitude and azimuth scales, local sidereal time, and right ascension help relate the mapped sky to the observer’s view.
The manual specifies a reference latitude of 35°N for the displayed sky and its astronomical-twilight indicator. The twilight aid uses the Sun’s position and the −18° altitude line. These details must not be generalized to Astrodea models without a matching reference-specific manual.

What are the documented star-chart specifications?
Citizen’s Campanola manual lists 1,027 fixed stars of visual magnitude 4.8 or brighter; variable stars are shown at their maximum magnitude. It also lists 166 major nebulae, star clusters, and galaxies. The mapped positions are based on epoch 2000.0. The manual’s publication year is not stated in the inspected document, and these counts are not verified specifications for all Astrodea watches. See Citizen’s manual resource.
A planisphere is a representation of the sky, not a substitute for current observing data. In particular, check the reference latitude and chart configuration before using the dial to locate objects; the documented Campanola display is specified for 35°N.

How to identify an Astrodea model and find its manual
- Record the product or reference number from the watch’s paperwork, case, or listing.
- If you have the watch in hand, inspect the caseback. Citizen says the case number is stamped there, and its first four characters are the movement number.
- Use Citizen’s official manual search, which accepts a product number or movement number, and confirm that the result matches the exact watch.
- Follow that model’s instructions for setting the time and any celestial displays. The Campanola manual describes corrections to its constellation and moon dials, which are linked to its hour and minute hands; do not assume the procedure applies to Astrodea.
Citizen’s manual directory includes manuals for past as well as new models, making it useful for identifying instructions for older watches.

The available official documentation does not establish a complete Astrodea reference list, current production status, release markets, present availability, or current prices. It also does not provide a verified model-by-model comparison. Treat a seller’s description of a particular Astrodea’s chart, latitude, functions, or specifications as unconfirmed until it matches documentation for that reference.

- Ask for a clear reference or product number and caseback photo.
- Check that the manual or other official documentation matches the exact reference and movement.
- Verify the chart’s latitude and configuration rather than assuming the documented Campanola’s 35°N setting applies.
- For a pre-owned watch, assess condition, service history, included accessories, and the seller’s documentation separately from its celestial features.
