The Citizen Caliber 0200 is a spring-powered automatic mechanical movement developed and assembled by Citizen, with technical and decorative expertise from its Swiss subsidiary Manufacture La Joux-Perret. The original black-dial watch, reference NC0200-90E, pairs it with a 40 mm stainless-steel case and bracelet. It is not accurately described as a Swiss-assembled watch: Citizen’s account of the collaboration centers on Japanese design and assembly capability combined with La Joux-Perret know-how.
What makes Caliber 0200 a Japanese-Swiss collaboration?
Citizen announced Caliber 0200 in March 2021, calling it the company’s first newly developed in-house mechanical caliber in 11 years. Citizen says it brought its own design and assembly capabilities together with expertise from Manufacture La Joux-Perret S.A., its Swiss subsidiary. The collaboration informed both the movement’s technical development and its finishing; it does not mean the complete watch is assembled in Switzerland.
Citizen says the caliber uses a free-sprung balance. Instead of regulating the balance with a conventional regulator index, this construction uses adjustable weights on the balance. Citizen attributes durability against shocks and changes over time, as well as its accuracy target, to that approach. The company also reports developing a manufacturing process to achieve the required balance precision and using LIGA processing for escapement components. These are Citizen’s descriptions of the design and production approach, rather than independent performance test results.
Caliber 0200 specifications
| Specification | Citizen’s published figure or description |
|---|---|
| Movement type | Automatic mechanical; can also be wound manually |
| Power reserve | Approximately 60 hours when fully wound |
| Frequency | 28,800 beats per hour, or 8 beats per second |
| Jewels | 26 |
| Average accuracy | −3.0 to +5.0 seconds per day in a static measurement |
These figures come from Citizen’s official Caliber 0200 support page. The power-reserve figure is specified at maximum winding; it is not a guarantee that any particular wearing routine will keep the mainspring wound for 60 hours. Citizen explains that arm movement turns the oscillating weight to wind the mainspring automatically.

How to interpret the accuracy specification
The −3.0 to +5.0 seconds-per-day range is a static average specification, not a promise of the rate every owner will see on the wrist. Citizen’s launch information says actual performance may fall outside that range depending on wearing time, watch position, arm movement and mainspring winding. The company’s Caliber 0200 support documentation likewise notes that mechanical-watch accuracy varies with use conditions, position, movement and winding.
The original Caliber 0200 watch: NC0200-90E
The 2021 launch announcement identifies the black-dial NC0200-90E as the original stainless-steel Caliber 0200 model. Citizen lists a 40.0 mm case diameter, 10.9 mm design thickness, sapphire crystal with Clarity Coating, transparent case back, stainless-steel bracelet and 5-bar water resistance. Those are specifications for this reference, not universal specifications for every watch using a related caliber.

How Caliber 0200 differs from Caliber 0210
Citizen’s current global lineup lists watches using both Caliber 0200 and Caliber 0210. The distinctions below are limited to what the cited official pages specify; the calibers should not be treated as interchangeable descriptions of one watch.

In its 2021 announcement, Citizen said it inspected each completed watch for 17 days before bracelet installation, across six positions and three temperature levels. That describes the company’s stated inspection process; it is not a separate independent laboratory certification. The same launch-era material gives the 60-hour running-time figure, 28,800-beat-per-hour frequency, 26 jewels and static accuracy range cited above.

Citizen’s official pages establish the stated specifications and lineup, but do not establish current prices, local stock, retailer authorization or availability in every market.
