Citizen announced AV0104-06W for the 50th anniversary of its light-powered watch technology, first launched in 1976. A separate Tsuno Chrono limited edition commemorates the model’s 1973 introduction, so the reference number matters when comparing the two.
What does the 2026 Tsuno Racer 50th anniversary celebrate?
Citizen’s September 1, 2026 announcement identifies AV0104-06W as an Eco-Drive 50th-anniversary limited edition. The milestone is the 1976 launch of Citizen’s light-powered watch technology. Citizen’s global announcement says, “2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the launch of CITIZEN’s world first light-powered watch.” Citizen Watch Global Network’s announcement uses this Eco-Drive anniversary framing.
The wording can be confusing because Citizen also describes another Tsuno Chrono as a 50th-anniversary edition tied to the watch’s 1973 introduction. That earlier anniversary story and AV0104-06W are distinct; do not treat their references, edition quantities or specifications as interchangeable.
AV0104-06W: the 2026 Eco-Drive anniversary edition
Citizen Japan announced AV0104-06W on September 1, 2026, with a planned Japanese release date of September 10, 2026. The Japanese suggested retail price was ¥187,000 (¥170,000 before tax); Citizen’s global page listed a projected price of USD 1,340. Both announcements give a worldwide edition of 5,000 pieces. These are announcement-era regional launch prices, not current resale values or confirmation of stock. Citizen cautions that release details and availability can vary by market and that final design and specifications may change. See Citizen Japan’s announcement for the Japanese details.

Design and construction
The case is stainless steel with partial yellow-gold-colored plating, paired with a brown cowhide leather band. The dial is dark green, with yellow-gold accents, and the crystal is spherical sapphire. Citizen says the design draws on classic cars from the period when its first analog light-powered watch appeared in 1976.
Movement and functions
AV0104-06W uses Citizen Cal. E210 Eco-Drive, with stated accuracy of ±15 seconds per month and approximately eight months of operation on a full charge. Its chronograph measures in 1/5-second increments and includes a 12-hour counter. The hands and indices are luminous, and Citizen says recycled material is used in dial components. Citizen describes the quartz chronograph as using an “instant return-to-zero” method associated with mechanical chronographs; that is the company’s description of the mechanism, not an independent performance assessment.

Dimensions and water resistance
Citizen lists design dimensions of 44.5 mm in diameter and 15.3 mm thick, with 20-bar water resistance. These figures describe the manufacturer’s stated design and rating; they do not establish how the watch will wear on an individual wrist or its condition after use.
How it differs from the Tsuno Chrono edition tied to 1973
Citizen Canada describes a separate Tsuno Chrono 50th-anniversary limited edition commemorating 50 years since the model’s 1973 introduction. Its page describes a hand-assembled movement made of 230 parts, bullhead-style pushers, a power-reserve indicator, a 12-hour and 60-minute chronograph, and Eco-Drive power. The stated edition limit is 1,000 pieces in the United States and 3,000 worldwide. Those quantities and the 1973 milestone belong to that edition, not to AV0104-06W. Citizen’s description appears on its Canadian Promaster Tsuno Chrono collection page.

Another Tsuno Racer reference: AV0088-01L
AV0088-01L is a separate Promaster Tsuno Chrono Racer, not the 2026 Eco-Drive anniversary reference. Citizen US lists a blue dial with red accents, Super Titanium case, hand-assembled E210 Eco-Drive movement, power-reserve indicator, tachymeter, alarm and flat sapphire crystal. Its stated water resistance is 200 m, and its worldwide limit is 2,500 unnumbered pieces. Citizen’s page claims its Super Titanium is five times harder and 40% lighter than steel; those comparisons are Citizen’s claims. The page listed a US price of $1,225 when captured, which may no longer be current. Product details are on Citizen US’s AV0088-01L page.
What to check before comparing or buying
Start with the complete reference number rather than a listing title that only says “Tsuno,” “Racer” or “50th Anniversary.” Then compare the milestone, movement and functions, case material and dimensions, crystal, water-resistance rating, edition quantity, included strap and packaging, and the regional price and date attached to that price. These details separate AV0104-06W from both the 1973-debut anniversary edition and AV0088-01L.
Citizen’s product pages establish announced product details, not present-day inventory, seller quality or resale value. Check the relevant regional Citizen page or an authorized retailer for current availability and pricing; marketplace listings should be checked for the exact reference and seller before purchase.
