Actor and horological designer Aldis Hodge was announced as a trustee of the Horological Society of New York (HSNY) in July 2020. HSNY listed him among trustees re-elected in January 2025, documenting his continued place on the board at that time—not a new appointment in 2026.
When was Aldis Hodge appointed as an HSNY trustee?
HSNY announced Hodge’s appointment in July 2020. The Society’s January 2025 election announcement later included him among trustees re-elected for another term. Those dated announcements establish his appointment in 2020 and his re-election in 2025; they do not establish whether the roster has changed since then.

In its 2020 appointment coverage, HSNY described its ten trustees as playing an important role in the organization’s operation and ensuring it upholds the interests of the public. The figure of ten describes the board in that report, not necessarily its current size. HSNY’s appointment announcement and its 2025 election announcement provide the dated records.
Why does Hodge have a connection to horology?
Hodge’s interest in watches and horology predates his appointment. HSNY wrote in 2019 that he had joined the Society in 2016 and described him as an actor, horological engineer, and collector. In the Society’s 2025 trustee announcement, it identified him as founder and CEO of A. Hodge Atelier, a film and television producer, and a SAG Award-winning actor. HSNY’s 2019 profile documents his earlier connection to the organization.

Hodge has also explained why he values learning about horology: “I believe the continued education and exploration of horology/horological art is a necessary asset to appreciating our time for what it truly is: one of the greatest sources of wealth we all share on this earth. Understanding the value of how we choose to show and tell time reinforces our appreciation of how we get to spend that time – be it with loved ones, pursuing our greatest passions, exploring new experiences, etc.” The statement is reproduced in HSNY’s profile.

HSNY describes itself as a nonprofit dedicated to advancing horology through education. Its official history says the Society was founded in 1866, has taught horology to the public since the 1940s, and has held monthly lectures and social events since its founding. Its about page gives the Society’s account of its history and mission.
Rank #2
The phrase “America’s oldest watchmaking guild” appears in coverage of Hodge’s appointment. HSNY characterizes itself as one of the world’s oldest continuously operating horological associations. In a 2025 officer announcement, HSNY president William Buchalter described it as “the longest continuously operating guild in America.” These are attributed descriptions of the Society’s history; they should not be read as an independently verified comparative ranking.
