The 20 mm lug width is useful when looking for straps, but it does not guarantee that an aftermarket bracelet or strap end will match the case or fit correctly. Confirm the specific reference and attachment before buying.
Movement and power reserve
DAVOSA describes the DAV 3021 as an automatic movement with bidirectional rotor winding, quick date correction and a seconds stop. The maker lists 25/26 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 A/h and a 41-hour power reserve. Those figures describe the movement as specified by DAVOSA; they do not establish measured accuracy or reserve in an individual watch. DAVOSA’s movement information gives the maker’s stated technical details.

Water resistance and diver-style features
For reference 161.532.40, DAVOSA specifies 20 ATM water resistance, a one-way rotating ceramic bezel and a sapphire crystal with non-reflective treatment. These are product specifications, not independent verification of water resistance or bezel operation. A rating alone does not establish that a particular watch remains suitable for water exposure after wear, impact or service; follow DAVOSA’s instructions and have seals checked as appropriate.
The manufacturer also specifies SuperLumiNova BGW9. No independent evidence here establishes brightness, legibility or how long the lume remains visible after charging.

“Argonautic 39” covers more than one configuration, so the model name alone is not enough to identify the finish or price. DAVOSA’s gold-plated reference 161.533.50 is listed with the same 39.5 mm width, 47.0 mm length, 12.4 mm height, 20.0 mm lug size, 160.0 g weight, 20 ATM rating and DAV 3021 movement. Its page-listed price was €1,100 including tax when accessed in 2026. Check the seller’s reference and exact finish before comparing listings; prices and availability can change. DAVOSA’s official listings distinguish the variants.
Size and fit: what the dimensions can—and cannot—tell you
At 39.5 mm wide and 47.0 mm long, the listed dimensions provide a more useful starting point than diameter alone when judging the case against a wrist or a watch you already own. DAVOSA says this case is 3.5 mm smaller in diameter than its previous 43 mm professional diver model. That is the manufacturer’s comparison, not an independent assessment of fit. DAVOSA’s product page says: “In the Argonautic 39, the case has been reduced by exactly 3.5 mm and, with its moderate 39.5 mm, now cuts a fine figure on every wrist.” The latter is marketing language, not evidence that the watch suits every wrist.

What this review can and cannot establish
The available evidence for this review consists of DAVOSA product information rather than independent testing or owner measurements. It supports describing the listed construction, dimensions, movement and maker-rated features. It does not establish real-world accuracy, comfort, finishing quality, durability, lume performance or comparative value. No competitor specifications or independent price comparisons are available here, so a head-to-head value verdict would not be grounded.
