The published details point to a compact automatic watch with a translucent dial and a playful moving indicator; its final production specifications, price and availability were not confirmed in the reports available by October 12, 2026.
Can you buy the Donut Glazed watch?
Not the gray-and-purple version shown in the early coverage. WatchPro reported on September 14, 2026, that the circulated examples were promotional prototypes, not the final production watch. British GQ reported on September 25, 2026, that this particular version would never be sold.

GQ España reported on September 28, 2026, that three other versions were expected to be revealed in mid-October. That was a plan reported at the time, not confirmation that a public model launched or became available. WatchPro and British GQ both describe a 35mm stainless-steel case, Japanese automatic movement, translucent dial, luminous elements, NATO-style strap and 50 metres of water resistance. These are reported characteristics of the prototype, not a confirmed production specification sheet.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Case and dial
WatchPro describes polished steel, flying-blade lugs and a frosted translucent construction that partially reveals the movement. It also notes a transparent upper layer and a luminous hour ring. British GQ likewise describes a translucent dial and lume. Neither report establishes whether these details will remain unchanged in a retail version.
Movement and moving indicator
The prototype is described as automatic and powered by a Japanese movement; the specific movement calibre is not stated in the cited reports. A small indicator near five o’clock moves as the watch runs. British GQ quotes co-founder Jason Cheh explaining that it is not a date display or second time zone: it is visual motion intended to signal that the mechanical movement is ticking. Cheh also said, “It serves absolutely no function other than to look cool.”

Strap and water resistance
The reports describe a NATO-style strap and 50 metres of water resistance on the prototype. A strap width, fixed-bar compatibility details, service information and final production water-resistance rating are not established. GQ España’s reviewer Mike Christensen said the strap moved too much on his wrist; that is one person’s fit impression, not a general fit test.

Is Donut Watch Company part of Ming?
Donut has personnel ties and shared experience with Horologer Ming, while its founders describe it as a distinct creative project. British GQ reports that Donut grew from conversations between Ming Thein and CEO Praneeth Raj Singh. It identifies Logan Baker, Horologer Ming’s head of marketing and communications, and Jason Cheh, a creative producer at the company, as Donut co-founders. The stated aim is to make room for younger creatives to develop ideas outside Ming Thein’s personal design direction.
Horologer Ming’s own account says the brand was founded in 2017 by Ming Thein, whom it describes as a designer, photographer and engineer. The company presents its work as a blend of design, engineering, playfulness and experimentation, including the use of transparent materials such as sapphire and borosilicate glass.

Why use a doughnut theme?
Donut’s founders told British GQ that the playful identity is meant to feel less intimidating to people who do not already follow traditional watchmaking. The moving dial element and mascot Snowball fit that lighthearted presentation. That is the team’s stated intention, not a measured claim about how audiences respond.
What is still unknown about the retail Glazed?
The early reporting documents a concept and promotional prototype, not a finished retail watch. Before judging a production model, look for its published price, full dimensions including thickness, movement calibre and service details, confirmed water resistance, strap or bar compatibility, legibility, warranty and returns terms. The reports do not establish a confirmed Amazon listing, separately purchasable case or replacement strap that is verified to fit.
