Its collection is not a single repeated format: the 99.1 and 99.4 are among the models shown on the official site, while the 99.6-M Mondphase combines small seconds, a power-reserve display and a moon-phase indication. How the family history shaped the brand
According to the company’s official history, Dieter Dornblüth developed an initial movement design in 1959. In 1999, his son Dirk—also a master watchmaker—presented him with a stainless-steel watch he had made for Dieter’s 60th birthday. The gift revived the earlier movement idea as a father-and-son project, and the company says it unveiled its first production model in 2002.
The brand describes itself as family-run and says its watches are made using traditional tools and machines. Its history characterizes production as only a few pieces per month. These are the company’s own descriptions, not independently audited production figures. The official history puts its approach this way: “With the Dornblüth calibers, father and son prove that own ideas in the art of watchmaking do not necessarily need sophisticated CNC technique, but that even today passionate and dedicated watchmakers can create own handcrafted precision watches using only traditional tools and machines.”

The 99.0 and 99.ZS (1) ST are both listed at 42 mm and with a 50-hour reserve (+/- 5%), but the 99.ZS is listed 1 mm taller and uses central seconds. The 99.0 page details decorative movement finishing. These published figures help narrow a shortlist; dimensions alone do not establish how either watch will feel on a particular wrist.

Choose by the dial you want to read
A small-seconds layout keeps the seconds indication apart from the central axis, while the 99.ZS places seconds centrally. The 99.6-M adds three indications—small seconds, power reserve and moon phase—so it presents more information than a simpler layout. Decide whether you prefer a pared-back dial or the added displays, then compare the exact reference pages for the model you are considering.
Read movement details as model-specific
The 99.0’s plate, engraving and finishing are specified for that caliber and should not be generalized to every Dornblüth & Sohn watch. Likewise, the cited 99.0 and 99.ZS pages list 18,000 half-oscillations per hour, but those figures are not a substitute for checking the specifications of another reference.
