The DUG Purist Typ 1 and Typ 2 are distinguished chiefly by their dial furniture: Typ 1 uses baton indices, while Typ 2 uses Arabic numerals. DUG’s official overview presents both as Purist variants, with dial-color, date-at-6, and strap or steel-bracelet choices. The available product information does not establish a mechanical-performance difference between the two, and this comparison is based on manufacturer information rather than an independent hands-on test.
Typ 1 vs Typ 2: the documented differences
| Choice | Typ 1 | Typ 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Dial markers | Baton indices, per DUG’s official overview | Arabic numerals, per DUG’s official overview |
| Movement or performance difference | No separate difference is established in the available manufacturer information. | |
| Dimensions | DUG lists 40 mm diameter, 10.95 mm height and 47.5 mm lug-to-lug on its current product page. | A separate detailed dimension set is not stated in the available official sources. |
That leaves the central decision where it belongs: which dial treatment you prefer. Baton markers give the Typ 1 a cleaner, more contemporary appearance; Arabic numerals make the Typ 2’s hours more explicit and lend it a more classic look. Those are visual distinctions, not evidence that one version is more accurate or robust.
Shared-family choices: date, color and bracelet
Date or no date
DUG’s overview presents a date display at 6 o’clock as an option. The date is a configuration choice rather than a defining difference between Typ 1 and Typ 2; check the selected listing and configuration before ordering.
Dial color
DUG shows several dial colors in its overview. Availability can depend on the current configuration, so confirm the color and marker combination on the product page at purchase.

Leather strap or steel bracelet
The Purist can be configured with a leather strap or stainless-steel bracelet. DUG’s current Typ 1 listing shows the bracelet as a paid option, alongside the date selection. The exact total depends on the chosen configuration; the page lists a Typ 1 starting price of €1,249 when accessed in 2026, not a guaranteed current price.
DUG specifies a 20 mm lug width for Typ 1 and says the Purist supports standard third-party straps. It also describes a quick-release system for changing straps without tools. If buying another strap, verify both its 20 mm width and its attachment compatibility; no third-party strap was evaluated for this comparison.
What DUG specifies for the Typ 1
DUG’s current Typ 1 listing gives these specifications. They are manufacturer-published figures, not independent measurements:
- Three-part stainless-steel case, 40 mm in diameter and 10.95 mm high
- 47.5 mm lug-to-lug and 20 mm strap lugs
- Double anti-reflective sapphire crystal and sapphire display back
- DUG 400 automatic movement, based on Sellita SW 400 architecture
- 40-hour power reserve and 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz)
- 100 m (10 ATM) water resistance
The listing describes an openworked rotor plated with 24-karat gold. DUG says the movement is assembled in Glashütte and decorated with features including perlage, beveling, blued screws and rhodium-plated components. The company’s FAQ says each movement is hand assembled and adjusted. These are DUG’s descriptions; they should not be read as independent inspection of the watch.

Accuracy, certification and the DUG 400
How accurate are the watches?
DUG’s FAQ states an average adjustment range of 0 to +8 seconds per day. That is the manufacturer’s stated target, not a measured result for a particular watch or a guarantee that every watch will keep that rate in every position and wearing condition. The available sources do not provide independent accuracy testing.
Are the watches chronometer-certified?
No. DUG says its watches are not chronometer-certified. A brand-stated regulation range describes the maker’s adjustment claim; certification would involve an external standard and test. The cited information establishes the former, not the latter.
Winding and reserve
DUG says the movement winds in both directions, has a stop-seconds function, and provides approximately 40 hours of power reserve. The Typ 1 listing also states 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). The available documentation does not support treating these as distinct Typ 1 and Typ 2 movement specifications.
Water resistance and everyday use
DUG rates the watch at 100 m (10 ATM) and says it is suitable for swimming and snorkeling, but not intended for extreme or deep-sea diving. The company cautions that its stated test values do not include pressure peaks caused by movement. This is the maker’s guidance, not an independent water-resistance test.

- Black Dial Design: Black dial with full Arabic numerals pairs with a green fabric slip-thru strap that changes in seconds
- Adjustable Strap: A comfortable band fits securely up to an 8-inch wrist circumference for everyday wear, day in and day out
- Indiglo Backlight: A push of the button illuminates the dial and luminous hands in the dark, day or night, rain or shine

- Built to Last: A Timex watch is designed for durability and everyday reliability; every piece reflects our commitment to quality without compromise
DUG also notes that water, especially seawater, can accelerate leather-strap aging. For regular swimming, consider the bracelet or a suitable water-resistant strap, and follow the maker’s care guidance.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Fit, strap changes and bracelet sizing
The listed Typ 1 dimensions—40 mm across, 10.95 mm high and 47.5 mm lug-to-lug—offer a useful starting point for judging its proportions. Those figures are not a substitute for trying it on, and the available sources do not give a separate verified dimension set for Typ 2. No wrist-fit impressions or comparative wear test are claimed here.
DUG says its quick-release straps can be changed without tools, and that standard third-party straps in the usual 20 mm width are supported. For the steel bracelet, DUG says links are screwed on one side and can be removed with the right screwdriver. Customers can also provide wrist circumference when ordering and ask the company to shorten the bracelet.
Warranty and servicing
DUG’s Typ 1 product page states a three-year warranty. Its FAQ recommends routine servicing after about five to seven years and gives approximately ten working days as a rule-of-thumb service duration. Actual work time can depend on the watch’s condition, current workload and parts availability. Confirm current warranty and service terms with the seller when ordering.
Buying guidance
- Choose Typ 1 if you prefer baton indices; choose Typ 2 if you want Arabic numerals. The documented distinction is primarily visual.
- Decide whether you want the optional date display, and check that your chosen dial color is currently offered with the desired marker style.
- Compare the final configured price, not just the listed starting price; date and steel-bracelet selections can add cost.
- Use the Typ 1 dimensions as the available sizing reference, but do not assume a separate Typ 2 fit specification that DUG has not published in the sources cited here.
- If planning to change straps, look for a compatible 20 mm strap and verify the attachment style.
DUG describes a direct-to-consumer sales model and online configuration. Its standard Purist launch announcement said ordering began on December 1, 2024. DUG separately announced that its Glashütte manufactory opened to the public on June 14, 2025; that company account provides brand context, not independent verification of every production claim.
