He also talks about rest, friendship and looking ahead—alongside a collection that the interview says includes three tourbillons.
Why Haaland’s grandfather made the Navitimer personal
Haaland’s watch interest, as described in Russell Sheldrake’s interview published by Time+Tide Watches on 30 March 2025, begins with a childhood memory of his grandfather, Erling Dag, wearing a Breitling Navitimer. That makes the watch part of a family story, not simply a luxury object he encountered as a professional footballer.
The interview was made possible by Haaland’s continuing Breitling partnership, so its account is a branded-watch feature rather than an independent product review. It names the Navitimer but does not identify the exact reference his grandfather wore. Read the interview at Time+Tide Watches.
What the interview says about his watch collection
Sheldrake reports that Haaland is strongly interested in watches and owns three tourbillons. The interview also mentions a Premier Tourbillon he wore during Manchester City’s 2023 treble parade. It does not provide an exact reference for that watch, nor does it give model specifications or prices. Those details should not be inferred from the collection anecdotes.

How Haaland describes time away from football
For Haaland, luxury can mean having a day off. “Luxury is having a day off,” he tells Time+Tide Watches. He also says, “I like to spend time with friends, it’s important to spend time with those who wish you well in life.” His comments frame time off as a chance to rest and maintain close relationships, rather than as another performance target.
