Ferrari has had documented watch relationships with nine brands: Heuer, Longines, Cartier-associated Ferrari Formula, Girard-Perregaux, Panerai, Cabestan, Hublot, Movado, and Richard Mille.

They did not all hold the same role. Some were race-timing partners, some produced Ferrari-branded licensed watches, some made high-end co-branded complications, and some were involved in a single limited-edition project. The most recent documented relationship in the research is Ferrari’s multi-year partnership with Richard Mille, announced in 2021.

Table of Contents

The nine Ferrari watch collaborations at a glance

This list uses a deliberately narrow definition of collaboration. A brand is included only where Ferrari or Scuderia Ferrari is documented as having entered a partnership, sponsorship, official-timing relationship, trademark license, or co-branded watch project. A watch merely worn by a Ferrari driver, a one-off gift, an unofficial Ferrari-themed design, or a movement supplied for a Ferrari-branded watch does not qualify by itself.

Brand Approximate period Relationship type Representative watches or output
Heuer 1970s, commonly dated 1971–1979 Scuderia Ferrari timing and motorsport partnership Ferrari-branded Heuer Chronosplit
Longines 1980s, principally 1980–1987, with a further association reported in 1988–1989 Official timekeeping, telemetry, and team support Ferrari-branded Longines watches and special pieces
Cartier-associated Ferrari Formula Approximately 1983 onward during the 1980s Licensed or commissioned Ferrari merchandise connected to Cartier and Alain Dominique Perrin Ferrari Formula chronographs and quartz watches
Girard-Perregaux Approximately 1993 or 1994–2004 Luxury-watch licensing and co-branding Ferrari chronographs, F50-related watches, and the Tribute Enzo Triple Bridge Tourbillon
Panerai 2005–2010 Explicit Ferrari license and official-timekeeper appointment Ferrari engineered by Officine Panerai watches
Cabestan Approximately 2010–2011; commonly identified with 2011 Short-lived, technically ambitious limited-edition project Scuderia Ferrari One
Hublot 2011–2020 Official watch and timing partnership MP-05 LaFerrari, Techframe Ferrari, and team editions
Movado License announced in 2012; documented through December 31, 2022 Worldwide Ferrari and Scuderia Ferrari watch license Broader-market Ferrari-branded watches
Richard Mille Announced in 2021 and continuing in the documented period Official watch, timing, sponsorship, and technical partnership RM UP-01 Ferrari and RM 43-01 Tourbillon Split-Seconds Chronograph Ferrari

The chronology overlaps at several points. That is not an error: Ferrari sometimes had a high-end watchmaking partner and a separate consumer-product license at the same time.

1. Heuer: Ferrari’s 1970s timing partner

Heuer was associated with Scuderia Ferrari during the 1970s, in a relationship centered primarily on motorsport timing and equipment. The period is commonly placed around 1971 to 1979 in specialist Ferrari-watch chronologies.

The clearest watch-related result was the Ferrari-branded version of the Heuer Chronosplit, one of the best-known digital watches of Heuer’s early electronic era. TAG Heuer’s own historical material identifies Ferrari-branded Chronosplit editions as notable special versions of the model. TAG Heuer’s Heuer Digital Era history is useful primary-source background for the model and its special editions.

This was not yet the kind of elaborate haute-horlogerie co-branding seen later with Girard-Perregaux or Richard Mille. Heuer’s Ferrari connection is better understood as a racing-timekeeping partnership that also produced collectible Ferrari-branded watches.

What collectors should look for

Searches for a Heuer Chronosplit Ferrari should be treated as vintage-electronics research, not simply logo hunting. The dial, caseback, module, display condition, battery history, and originality of the Ferrari branding all matter. A non-working vintage digital watch may require specialist servicing, and replacement parts can be difficult to source.

2. Longines: official timing in the 1980s

Longines served as an official timekeeper for Scuderia Ferrari during the 1980s. The principal relationship is generally placed between 1980 and 1987, while some historical accounts report a further association in 1988 and 1989.

The partnership involved official timing, telemetry, and visible support for the race team. Ferrari-branded Longines models and special pieces are also associated with the period, including watches connected in historical accounts with drivers and Enzo Ferrari. A detailed historical chronology is available in Time+Tide’s history of Ferrari watch collaborations.

Longines therefore belongs on the list, but its status needs to be described accurately. The relationship was primarily about timing technology and team presence, supplemented by Ferrari-branded wristwatches. It was not equivalent to the later, purpose-built luxury collections produced by Girard-Perregaux, Panerai, Hublot, or Richard Mille.

3. Cartier and the Ferrari Formula watches

During the 1980s, Enzo Ferrari entered into an arrangement with Alain Dominique Perrin, who was associated with Cartier, to create Ferrari-branded watches sold under the Ferrari Formula name. The watches used design cues associated with Cartier’s 1980s style, but the Cartier name was generally absent from the dials and packaging.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That detail is important. These are best described as Cartier-associated Ferrari Formula watches or a Ferrari-branded licensed and commissioned merchandise project connected to Cartier’s corporate structure and Perrin. They should not automatically be described as a conventional Cartier-signed collection or as watches manufactured directly by Cartier.

The history is unusually difficult to untangle because the Ferrari Formula branding, corporate arrangement, design language, and manufacturing trail are not all equally documented. Specialist coverage places the project at approximately 1983 onward during the 1980s. Revolution’s account of Ferrari’s early watch years provides useful historical context.

Was Baume & Mercier the manufacturer?

Baume & Mercier is frequently proposed as the maker of some or all Ferrari Formula watches. The available evidence does not confirm that theory strongly enough to present Baume & Mercier as an independent Ferrari collaboration brand.

The responsible wording is: Cartier-associated Ferrari Formula watches, with Baume & Mercier proposed as a possible manufacturer. That preserves the interesting manufacturing question without turning an attribution theory into a documented partnership.

What about Seiko?

Some Ferrari Formula chronographs used Seiko-based quartz movements, including movements associated with the 7A38 family. That makes Seiko relevant to the technical identification of particular watches, but it does not establish a direct Ferrari collaboration with Seiko. A movement supplier is not automatically a co-branding or sponsorship partner.

4. Girard-Perregaux: Ferrari’s major 1990s luxury-watch partnership

Girard-Perregaux’s Ferrari relationship began in the 1990s and is commonly dated from 1993 or 1994 through 2004. Unlike the earlier timing-focused arrangements, this was a substantial luxury-watch licensing and co-branding relationship.

Rank #2
Emporio Armani Men's Chronograph Stainless Steel Watch (Model: AR1853)
  • Featuring a sleek stainless steel bracelet and a rich black chronograph dial, this Emporio Armani watch delivers fresh style with contemporary panache.
  • Case & Movement: 41mm case, 20mm band width, scratch resistant mineral crystal, accurate Quartz movement with chronograph analog display, imported
  • Dial: Round stainless steel case, with a black dial and silver accents.
  • Watch Band: Silver, durable stainless steel bracelet with a secure fold-over clasp closure.
  • Water Resistant: Up to 50m (165ft): Wearable while swimming in shallow water; 5 ATM.

The resulting watches were sold under the Girard-Perregaux pour Ferrari name and included Ferrari chronographs, F50-related models, and technically ambitious limited editions. The partnership produced mechanical watches intended to express Ferrari’s performance identity through serious watchmaking rather than merely applying a racing logo to a standard quartz model.

Among the most notable pieces is the Girard-Perregaux pour Ferrari Tribute Enzo Triple Bridge Tourbillon, a highly technical watch that linked Ferrari’s Enzo-era identity with Girard-Perregaux’s signature bridge and tourbillon architecture.

There is one important qualification: the relationship is generally described as a luxury-watch collaboration and license, not as a direct Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 sponsorship on the same terms as the later Hublot partnership. That distinction does not remove Girard-Perregaux from the list; it explains what kind of Ferrari relationship it actually was.

5. Panerai: Ferrari engineered by Officine Panerai

Panerai’s Ferrari relationship is among the best documented in the entire chronology. On March 24, 2005, Richemont announced that Ferrari and Richemont had entered an exclusive license agreement for Ferrari watches. The announcement assigned Panerai responsibility for developing haute-horlogerie pieces under the name Ferrari engineered by Officine Panerai.

The same announcement appointed Panerai as Official Timekeeper to Ferrari and stated that the first collection would appear in spring 2006. Richemont’s original announcement is the key primary source for the license, Panerai’s role, and the launch timing.

Historical chronologies generally place the arrangement from 2005 through 2010. The collection included Ferrari-branded Panerai chronographs and models with Ferrari designations such as Granturismo and Scuderia references.

Panerai’s involvement is therefore more than an informal association or a watch worn by a Ferrari personality. It was an explicitly documented license, an official-timekeeper appointment, and a named co-branded collection.

Why Panerai Ferrari watches can be confusing

Collectors may encounter the Ferrari name alongside Panerai model language, but not every Panerai with a racing-themed appearance is part of the collaboration. The dial, caseback engraving, reference number, movement, and documentation should agree. A seller’s description that uses Ferrari terminology without showing the relevant markings is not enough.

6. Cabestan: the brief Scuderia Ferrari One project

Cabestan produced the Scuderia Ferrari One, an unusually technical and extremely limited watch created around the end of the Panerai period and before the Hublot era. Specialist chronologies commonly identify a single-year Cabestan partnership in 2011, although the surrounding transition is sometimes described as approximately 2010 to 2011.

The Scuderia Ferrari One was not a broad catalog of Ferrari watches. It was a narrow, high-end project built around Cabestan’s distinctive technical architecture and Ferrari’s performance identity. Its short duration and limited production make it quite different from the longer Girard-Perregaux, Hublot, and Richard Mille relationships.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Cabestan should nevertheless be counted as a genuine collaboration. The appropriate description is a limited-production Ferrari watch project, not a long-running official-watch contract.

For historical background, the Cabestan relationship and the Scuderia Ferrari One are discussed in the specialist chronology at Time+Tide.

7. Hublot: Ferrari’s broad official partnership from 2011 to 2020

Hublot became Ferrari’s official watch and timing partner in 2011. Hublot’s corporate history describes a relationship extending beyond co-branded watches to official timekeeping for Ferrari and Scuderia Ferrari, the Ferrari Challenge, GT Competizioni, special events, and visibility connected with the Formula 1 team. Ferrari also documented Hublot as an official watch and official timekeeper.

The partnership generated one of the largest Ferrari watch families, including team editions, anniversary watches, the Hublot Techframe Ferrari, and the technically elaborate MP-05 LaFerrari. Ferrari’s 2017 investor presentation specifically records the launch of a Ferrari Hublot Techframe watch for Ferrari’s 70th anniversary. Ferrari’s 2017 investor presentation documents that launch, while Hublot’s corporate history describes the broader relationship.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The MP-05 LaFerrari is particularly distinctive. Its long vertical movement, multiple barrels, tourbillon, and unusual winding system made it a technical showcase rather than a conventional sports chronograph. The Techframe Ferrari took a different approach, pairing a Ferrari-related design brief with Hublot’s contemporary case and movement engineering.

Hublot’s Ferrari period is best characterized as a broad official partnership combining sponsorship, timing, team visibility, and a substantial co-branded product program. Historical coverage places it from 2011 through 2020.

8. Movado: the separate broader-market license

Movado Group announced on March 26, 2012 that it had signed a worldwide, multi-year license agreement with Ferrari to design, produce, and market watches under the Ferrari and Scuderia Ferrari names.

The initial collection was aimed at a much broader consumer segment than Hublot’s haute-horlogerie pieces. Movado said the watches would be sold through wholesale channels, Ferrari stores, and Ferrari’s online store, with prices up to €1,500. Movado Group’s announcement is the primary source for the original scope and distribution plan.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Ferrari’s later filings and Movado’s amended agreement documented the license through December 31, 2022, with rights covering Scuderia Ferrari watches up to a specified retail-price ceiling. The relevant filing is available through the SEC-hosted Movado annual report.

Movado and Hublot therefore need to be discussed separately even though their periods overlapped. Hublot occupied the high-luxury official-partner role; Movado held a broader Ferrari-branded watch license designed for a more accessible price segment. The existence of a Movado Ferrari watch does not mean it belongs to the same product category as an MP-05 LaFerrari or a limited Girard-Perregaux tourbillon.

9. Richard Mille: Ferrari’s current high-end partner in the documented period

On February 22, 2021, Ferrari announced a multi-year partnership with Richard Mille. The agreement made Richard Mille a sponsor and licensee for Ferrari, Team Partner and Official Watch of Scuderia Ferrari, Official Timekeeper for Ferrari’s GT and Challenge activities, and a partner of the Ferrari Driver Academy and Ferrari Esports Series.

The announcement also committed the brands to jointly develop an exclusive range of limited-edition watches. Ferrari’s partnership announcement sets out the official roles and the planned watch development.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Richard Mille’s own Ferrari partnership page describes cooperation between the brands’ design and engineering teams. Products identified as results of the relationship include the RM UP-01 Ferrari, introduced in 2022, and the RM 43-01 Tourbillon Split-Seconds Chronograph Ferrari.

Richard Mille’s role combines several categories that appeared separately in earlier decades: official timekeeping, motorsport visibility, sponsorship, licensing, technical cooperation, and extremely limited co-designed watches. Based on the documented research, it is Ferrari’s official high-end watch partnership in the period covered here. Because partnerships can change, that statement should be read as a date-qualified description rather than a claim that no later agreement or modification exists.

Why Ferrari has worked with so many watch brands

The list becomes easier to understand when Ferrari’s watch relationships are divided into four categories.

Race timing and team equipment

Heuer and Longines are the clearest examples. Their relationships were tied to the practical needs and visibility of motorsport timing, telemetry, and race-team support. Ferrari-branded watches emerged from those relationships, but the watches were not necessarily the central commercial purpose.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Trademark licenses and Ferrari merchandise

The Ferrari Formula project and Movado license fit this category most closely. The Ferrari name and Scuderia Ferrari identity were applied to watches intended for sale, with manufacturing and distribution arrangements that could involve companies other than the brand most visible to consumers.

Luxury co-branded watchmaking

Girard-Perregaux, Panerai, Hublot, and Richard Mille developed more substantial mechanical-watch programs. These collaborations used Ferrari branding alongside the watchmaker’s own design language, complications, case construction, and movement engineering.

Single or narrowly focused technical projects

Cabestan’s Scuderia Ferrari One belongs here. It is a genuine collaboration, but its limited scope means it should not be presented as though Cabestan operated a broad Ferrari collection for many years.

Brands and watches that should not be added to the definitive list

Omega

Omega produced Michael Schumacher Racing watches and other Ferrari-associated pieces, but the specialist evidence reviewed for this article states that Ferrari and Omega never officially collaborated. Those watches may be historically connected to Ferrari’s racing era, but they should be described as Ferrari-associated or Ferrari-era collector items, not official Ferrari collaboration watches.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Baume & Mercier

Baume & Mercier may have manufactured some Ferrari Formula watches associated with Cartier and Perrin, but that remains an unconfirmed attribution. It is not included as a confirmed Ferrari partner.

Seiko

Seiko movements appear in some Ferrari Formula chronographs. That is a movement-supply connection, not proof of a direct Ferrari watch partnership.

Sordi

Sordi appears in some specialist chronologies as a possible manufacturer of Scuderia Ferrari watches around the period before Cabestan. The dating and attribution are described as speculative, without comparable primary confirmation. Sordi is therefore an unresolved lead rather than one of the nine documented collaboration brands.

Zenith, Audemars Piguet, F.P. Journe, and other individual associations

A Ferrari driver’s watch, a unique gift, or a commissioned piece can be fascinating without representing a corporate collaboration. Watches associated with people such as Michael Schumacher or Jean Todt should be kept separate from Ferrari’s formal partnerships unless a documented agreement connects the watch brand and Ferrari itself.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How to buy and authenticate a Ferrari collaboration watch

A Ferrari logo is not authentication. The vintage and discontinued market contains genuine licensed watches, watches with replacement parts, incorrectly identified models, and pieces described more confidently than the evidence permits. If you are researching where to buy a vintage Ferrari watch, begin with the reference and construction rather than the logo.

  1. Identify the exact brand and collaboration. Decide whether the watch is supposed to be a Heuer Chronosplit Ferrari, Ferrari Formula piece, Girard-Perregaux pour Ferrari, Ferrari engineered by Officine Panerai, Hublot Ferrari, or another documented model. The brand name alone is not enough because several partnerships produced multiple families of watches.
  2. Photograph the dial, caseback, movement, clasp, and crown. Ferrari wording and logos can vary by period. Caseback engravings, reference numbers, serial formats, and movement markings often reveal whether the watch belongs to the claimed series.
  3. Check the movement against the claimed watch. A Seiko-based quartz movement can be correct for some Ferrari Formula chronographs, but it does not prove that Seiko was the collaboration partner. Conversely, a movement that does not match the expected specification is a warning sign.
  4. Separate original parts from later replacements. A replaced dial, bezel, handset, crystal, bracelet, or Ferrari emblem can affect collectability and value even when the underlying watch is genuine. Ask for service records and clear disclosure.
  5. Verify reference, dimensions, and design details. Compare the seller’s measurements and photographs with period-correct examples and manufacturer documentation where available. Large differences in case shape, pushers, engraving, or movement layout deserve an explanation.
  6. Evaluate provenance and the seller. A Ferrari-branded watch should not be treated as authentic solely because it appears on a marketplace. Seller reputation, return terms, independent inspection, ownership history, and the ability to answer technical questions are material considerations.
  7. Budget for specialist servicing. Vintage Heuer and Longines pieces, older quartz watches, unusual Panerai references, and highly complicated Hublot, Cabestan, or Richard Mille models can require very different forms of service. Confirm that a qualified watchmaker can work on the specific movement before buying.

For common licensed models, condition and originality may matter more than rarity claims in a listing. For high-end limited editions, documentation, provenance, completeness, and access to qualified service can be as important as the Ferrari connection itself.

The simplest answer to the question

If the question is strictly which watch brands have a documented Ferrari collaboration under the qualified definition used here, the answer is:

  • Heuer
  • Longines
  • Cartier, through the Cartier-associated Ferrari Formula project
  • Girard-Perregaux
  • Panerai
  • Cabestan
  • Hublot
  • Movado
  • Richard Mille

The list is not a ranking. It is a history of changing commercial and sporting roles, from Heuer’s 1970s timing association to Richard Mille’s multi-layered official partnership. The most useful question for any individual watch is not simply whether it carries a Ferrari logo, but what kind of Ferrari relationship produced it, when, and which company actually made the watch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Was Omega an official Ferrari watch partner?

Not on the evidence reviewed for this chronology. Omega made Michael Schumacher Racing watches and other Ferrari-associated pieces, but those should be described as Ferrari-associated collector watches rather than official Ferrari collaboration watches.

Did Cartier manufacture the Ferrari Formula watches?

The Ferrari Formula project was connected with Alain Dominique Perrin and Cartier’s corporate structure, but the watches generally did not carry the Cartier name. Baume & Mercier is sometimes proposed as a manufacturer, yet that attribution remains unconfirmed. It is safer to call them Cartier-associated Ferrari Formula watches.

Was Seiko a Ferrari watch collaborator?

Some Ferrari Formula chronographs used Seiko-based quartz movements, including movements associated with the 7A38 family. That establishes a movement-supply connection for particular watches, not a documented direct Ferrari partnership with Seiko.

Which Ferrari watch collaboration is the most recent?

Richard Mille is the most recent documented partner in the supplied research. Ferrari announced the multi-year partnership on February 22, 2021, naming Richard Mille Official Watch of Scuderia Ferrari and Official Timekeeper for Ferrari’s GT and Challenge activities, among other roles.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Are all Ferrari collaboration watches high-end luxury watches?

No. Heuer and Longines were strongly associated with timing and team support, Ferrari Formula watches were a licensed merchandise project, and Movado’s agreement targeted a broader market with an initial price range up to €1,500. The high-luxury category includes later relationships such as Girard-Perregaux, Panerai, Hublot, Cabestan, and Richard Mille.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Ferrari’s documented watch partners are Heuer, Longines, Cartier-associated Ferrari Formula, Girard-Perregaux, Panerai, Cabestan, Hublot, Movado, and Richard Mille. They represent different arrangements rather than one uninterrupted official-watch contract, so authentication and historical accuracy depend on identifying the specific partnership behind each watch.
