The Breguet Classique Tourbillon 3357 is a refined successor to the modern 3350, not the original modern Breguet tourbillon wristwatch. Its appeal lies in a restrained evolution of that design: a formal gold case, hand-guilloché dial and a tourbillon cage that also serves as the seconds display. Specifications and prices vary by example, so a 3357 is best understood through its particular reference, movement, condition and documentation.
What is the Breguet Classique Tourbillon 3357?
The 3357 is a manually wound Breguet wristwatch built around a tourbillon, a rotating carriage intended to counter positional rate errors. Abraham-Louis Breguet patented the mechanism in 1801, according to Swatch Group’s 2026 history of the brand. Breguet’s general user manual explains the principle, but does not establish the 3357’s individual specifications.
The reference combines traditional dress-watch details with an unusually visible complication: the tourbillon occupies an aperture in the dial, and its cage carries the seconds indication. A gold case, guilloché dial and blued hands give the watch a deliberately classic appearance rather than making the mechanism look like a sporty or experimental feature.
How the 3357 fits into Breguet’s tourbillon history
The 3350 came first. Swatch Group identifies the 3350, produced in 1989, as the first tourbillon wristwatch made by the modern Breguet maison. Fratello and Sotheby’s describe the 3357 as a later, refined development of that model. The exact transition date is not firmly established: Fratello says the 3357 appeared after 1995, while specialist auction house Ineichen estimates an early-2000s transition and notes that official evolution information is limited.

Fratello characterizes the 3357 as a cosmetic update that retained the caliber 558 lineage. Changes it identifies include dial details, the “Swiss Guilloché Main” inscription, a signed crown and a display caseback. Sotheby’s similarly calls its circa-2000 example a refined evolution of the 3350. These accounts support continuity with revisions, not a claim that every 3357 has identical components or dimensions.
In 2026, Breguet’s successor in this lineage is the Classique Tourbillon 7357. Swatch Group presents it as following the 3350 and equips it with the optimized hand-wound Cal. 187B, rated at 2.5 Hz (18,000 vibrations per hour) with a 60-hour power reserve. Those are 7357 specifications, not specifications for the 3357.

Specifications depend on the individual 3357
Published measurements and movement labels differ among documented examples. Fratello’s February 26, 2024 review concerns a yellow-gold 3357BA; Sotheby’s catalogued a separate yellow-gold watch circa 2000. The figures below identify each source’s example rather than implying one universal specification.

Movement labels and the tourbillon seconds display
Fratello calls the movement in its 3357BA a 558T; Sotheby’s lists caliber 558.1 for its circa-2000 lot. Ineichen also describes a rose-gold example with a hand-wound 558.1 and up to 50 hours of reserve. The sources therefore do not support treating a single movement suffix as universal across all watches carrying reference 3357.
On Fratello’s reviewed watch, three blued hands mounted on the tourbillon cage indicate seconds against an arced scale. The arrangement makes the rotating carriage part of the time display, not simply a movement feature visible through an opening.

Dial, case and finishing
Fratello describes its yellow-gold example’s dial as solid gold, silver-treated and hand-guilloché, paired with blued Breguet hands. It was shown on a brown alligator strap with a signed gold folding clasp. These are details of the reviewed configuration; the available reports do not establish that every 3357 left its original owner with the same strap, clasp or dial finish.
Case size also merits a specimen-specific check. Fratello reports 35 mm for its 3357BA, while Sotheby’s catalogue gives 36 mm for its circa-2000 example. Ineichen’s rose-gold example is described as 35 mm in diameter and 9.15 mm thick. Differences may reflect particular watches or reporting; the available evidence does not establish one definitive measurement for every 3357.

What does a Breguet 3357 cost?
There is no dependable single current price in the available records. The figures below are historical retail reporting, an asking-price observation or an auction estimate—not a current quote, market average or confirmed sale price.
| Figure | What it refers to | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| €114,600 | Yellow-gold 3357BA | Fratello’s reported retail price in 2024; not verified as a current price |
| €115,900 | Rose-gold 3357 | Fratello’s reported retail price in 2024; not verified as a current price |
| €116,400 | White-gold 3357 | Fratello’s reported retail price in 2024; not verified as a current price |
| €35,500 | Pre-owned 3357 | Lowest asking price Fratello said it saw in 2024; not a completed sale or valuation |
| $30,000–$60,000 | Sotheby’s circa-2000 yellow-gold example | Estimate for a June 2026 auction; the listing is closed and the captured page does not show a result |
Fratello also reports that a 1999 catalogue it consulted listed a retail price of 110,000 German marks. The article retrospectively equates that to about €55,000 at the 2000 conversion; that euro figure is not the original catalogue price. Price context is useful, but none of these figures can substitute for a live offer or a record of a completed transaction.
What to check before buying a 3357
Because the reference spans different metals, reported dimensions and movement designations, compare the watch in front of you with its own paperwork and service history rather than relying on a generic specification sheet.
Quick Recap
- Identify the exact watch. Record its case metal, reference and movement designation; compare the markings and configuration with the seller’s documents.
- Confirm condition and originality. Examine the case, dial, hands, tourbillon operation and visible movement, and ask whether any parts or finishes have been changed.
- Ask for service documentation. A complicated, hand-wound movement makes service history relevant to ownership cost and risk. Fratello reported 2023 Breguet service pricing of €3,270 for a complete tourbillon service and an additional €360 for factory polishing of a gold case. These are dated figures, not current tariffs; obtain a current quote from Breguet or a qualified specialist.
- Separate asking prices from outcomes. An advertised price or auction estimate does not show what a comparable watch actually sold for. Assess condition, provenance and included documentation alongside any price.
- Verify fit and accessories separately. The reviewed example’s brown alligator strap does not establish lug width or compatibility for another watch, so confirm measurements before sourcing a replacement.
