At Watches and Wonders Geneva on 14 April 2026, Rolex announced a new-generation Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master II, alongside centenary-related Oyster Perpetual updates and a green ombré Datejust 41. The Yacht-Master II is a purpose-built regatta chronograph: its redesigned countdown is programmed and operated with pushers, while the countdown scale now sits on the flange. A pre-show forecast floated a possible Yacht-Master III, but Rolex announced a redesigned Yacht-Master II instead.
What changed on the 2026 Yacht-Master II?
The new Yacht-Master II retains its role as a regatta-start instrument, but Rolex redesigned the countdown layout and controls. The countdown scale runs from 10 to 0 minutes on the flange, and the countdown minute and seconds hands rotate counterclockwise. Rolex says this makes the time remaining clearer.
The key operational change is that the lower pusher programs the countdown, replacing the previous generation’s bezel and Ring Command programming method. The selected duration is mechanically saved for reuse. The upper pusher starts and stops the countdown.

Rolex specifies a column wheel and vertical clutch, a Chronergy escapement and Rolex Côtes de Genève decoration for calibre 4162. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. The yellow-gold bracelet also has ceramic inserts inside its links, which Rolex says help prevent premature wear and improve flexibility.

How does the Yacht-Master II countdown work?
- Set the countdown duration: Press the lower pusher. Each press advances the minute hand by one increment, and the chosen duration is saved for reuse.
- Synchronize at the preparatory signal: Press the lower pusher to reset the centre seconds hand and synchronize the minute hand to the nearest minute.
- Start or stop the countdown: Use the upper pusher.
- Read the final seconds: With the bezel in its specified neutral position, Rolex says the bezel can display the last 30 seconds of the final countdown minute.
The bidirectional bezel can also be used to measure elapsed intervals, such as sailing time between buoys. Rolex describes the watch as designed to assist sailors during the critical start sequence of a race.
Which Oyster models did Rolex update for 2026?
Rolex’s newsroom index lists the following Oyster-family and Datejust announcements for 14 April 2026. The index identifies the models and headline treatments; it does not provide a complete price or availability comparison.

What did the Yacht-Master III rumor get wrong?
A T3 pre-show forecast raised the possibility of a Yacht-Master III, while also mentioning a reworked Yacht-Master II as a possibility. Rolex’s official announcement was a new-generation Yacht-Master II. That is the specific prediction this evidence resolves; it does not confirm or disprove unrelated online rumors about other Rolex models.
Rolex’s newsroom dates the Yacht-Master II and the Oyster updates above to 14 April 2026. Its index also contains Day-Date 40 and Cosmograph Daytona entries dated 15 September 2026. Those later entries should not be described as Watches and Wonders launches in April.

What Rolex says about Superlative Chronometer precision
Rolex states that its finished-watch precision requirement under the Superlative Chronometer protocol is between −2 and +2 seconds per day. This is Rolex’s certification standard, not a third-party measurement of a sample watch. The figure describes the manufacturer’s stated requirement rather than guaranteeing an identical daily rate in every position, temperature or wearing pattern.

Did Rolex announce a Yacht-Master III in 2026?
No. The official April 2026 announcement was a new-generation Yacht-Master II. A pre-show forecast had raised the Yacht-Master III as a possibility.
