Made to mark the partners’ nine-year relationship in 2022, the edition is limited to nine watches. Its most distinctive feature is also its clearest explanation: each visible seconds jump accompanies the mechanism’s periodic transfer of stored energy to the escapement.
What makes the Remontoir edition different?
This is a special version of the Friedrich II developed with The Lavish Attic, marking the ninth anniversary of the partnership between the retailer and Lang & Heyne in 2022. Lang & Heyne lists the edition at nine pieces. Its defining change from the regular Friedrich II is Caliber VI-I Titanium, a manual-winding movement that adds a seconds remontoir to the Caliber VI foundation. Lang & Heyne’s edition page
The watch combines that mechanism with a two-part black enamel dial and an eccentric seconds display. The second hand sits away from the dial’s central axis and advances in distinct one-second jumps rather than sweeping continuously. Lang & Heyne calls the concept “Remontoir With a Jump of Seconds” in its official release.
How the remontoir works—and what the jumping seconds show
A remontoir is an intermediate-force mechanism: instead of letting the mainspring’s changing force act directly and continuously on the escapement, it periodically stores a small amount of energy in a secondary spring and releases that energy in controlled increments. In Caliber VI-I Titanium, Lang & Heyne says the storage spring is tensioned every five half-oscillations. At the movement’s 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz), that means once per second.

The seconds hand’s one-second jump makes this cycle visible. The hand is not evidence by itself of improved measured accuracy. Lang & Heyne describes the remontoir as helping compensate for declining mainspring force and stabilize balance amplitude, but the cited maker material provides no independent timekeeping test results.
Power reserve: read the two figures separately
Lang & Heyne specifies that the remontoir operates for at least 24 hours and that total running time can reach up to 42 hours. These are related but distinct descriptions: the first concerns how long the remontoir mechanism continues to function, while the second is the stated maximum running time for the wound movement. The figures are manufacturer specifications; the consulted model page does not state testing conditions.

Titanium movement construction and case dimensions
The specified case measures 39.2 mm in diameter and 10.7 mm high. Lang & Heyne describes the movement’s main plate, trigonal bridge, balance cock, and lever bridge as medium-hard grade 2 titanium, with matte ceramic-bead-blasted surfaces, hand-polished bevels, and violet-tempered screws. These are the maker’s descriptions of the construction and finish.
The maker also notes an adjustment to the movement’s bearings: bronze bearings are used for the barrel and winding stem because titanium’s friction properties called for adaptation. This detail is a reminder that the titanium execution is not simply a material substitution throughout the movement.

How it compares with the regular Friedrich II
The standard Friedrich II is a useful reference point, but its specifications should not be transferred to the Remontoir edition. Lang & Heyne lists Caliber VI and a 55-hour power reserve for the regular model, while the special edition uses Caliber VI-I Titanium and has the remontoir and follow-on running-time figures described above. Both manufacturer pages give a 39.2 mm case diameter; their stated heights differ.
