The F.P. Journe Répétition Souveraine combines a manually wound minute repeater with a notably thin, 40 mm stainless-steel case. Its Calibre 1408 uses an 18 K rose-gold movement and a compact striking system designed around a flat gong beneath the dial. F.P. Journe publishes detailed specifications, but no current official retail price is established in the available sources; auction results are dated examples, not a universal valuation.
What makes the Répétition Souveraine special?
Its appeal lies in bringing an on-demand minute repeater into a case that measures 8.5 mm high, while giving the striking mechanism an unusual layout. The official model is Ref. RM, powered by Calibre 1408. Rather than treating the repeater as a separate complication hidden inside a conventional movement, F.P. Journe describes a compact system with a flat gong mounted beneath the dial and shortened striking racks.
The official product page shows a whitened guilloché silver dial with blued-steel hands. The brand’s 2025–2028 catalogue also depicts a smoked sapphire crystal dial that exposes rose-gold-toned movement components. These are documented presentations, not proof that both are currently offered in every market or at the same price. The specifications below refer to the model; the dial and appearance depend on the particular configuration.

All figures in the table are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent measurements or test results. The English product page states manual winding by 38 turns; the official French and English pages differ in wording about winding, so that figure should not be treated as a universally stated requirement.

How does the minute repeater work?
A minute repeater lets its wearer hear the time by activating a slide. The mechanism translates the time into a sequence of strikes: hours, quarter-hours, then the minutes since the last quarter. The Répétition Souveraine’s single slide starts that on-demand sequence.
F.P. Journe says its flat gong sits under the dial rather than wrapping around the movement, while compact racks and a strike-selection mechanism reduce the space taken by the repeater. The brand also describes the hours and minutes as sharing a hammer. When no quarter-hour chimes fall between them, the mechanism inserts a pause between the hour and minute sounds. An inertia regulator controls the chime speed; F.P. Journe says this is intended to avoid the background noise associated with traditional air regulators. These are the manufacturer’s technical descriptions, not an independent assessment of the sound.

What does the F.P. Journe Répétition Souveraine cost?
No current official retail price is stated in the available sources. Secondary-market records include both dealer asking prices and completed auction results, which should not be treated as interchangeable or as a single current market value.
One specific result is Monaco Legend Auctions’ Lot 109, reported at €525,000 including premium. That is an outcome for that lot, not the retail price of a new watch or a valuation for every example. Phillips’ Hong Kong Watch Auction XXI page documents a Black Label example; consult the lot page for its sale details rather than applying a price to other versions. EveryWatch aggregates dealer listings and auction records, so its entries likewise need to be read by sale channel, date, and status.

Price comparisons depend on the individual watch: dial and case configuration, condition, completeness, provenance and documentation, as well as the sale date and venue. Auction figures also need to be identified as hammer prices or totals including buyer’s premium; an asking price is not evidence of a completed sale.
