The F.P. Journe Vagabondage III is the trilogy’s final model, produced from 2016 to 2019. Its smoked-sapphire dial combines jumping digital hour and second displays with a central minute hand, while a one-second remontoir d’égalité advances the time train. The launch prices and auction result discussed below are historical reference points, not current asking prices or a current valuation.
What makes the Vagabondage III different?
Rather than using conventional hands for all three time units, the manually wound Calibre 1514 shows the hour in a jumping digital window at 10 o’clock and the seconds in a jumping digital window at 6 o’clock. A central hand indicates the minutes, and a power-reserve display sits at 1 o’clock. F.P. Journe describes the inner smoked-sapphire dial as revealing the 18K rose-gold movement beneath it, framed by an outer dial with screw-down accents.
The movement’s one-second constant-force device is a remontoir d’égalité: it advances the time train once each second. That mechanism is central to the watch’s unusual display, not simply a decorative complication. The official model page identifies the device with patent EP 1528443. The calibre runs at 21,600 alternations per hour, or 3 Hz.
Video and review context
F.P. Journe’s official Vagabondage page includes a video titled “Vagabondage III: The Legend.” It is the best source here for the manufacturer’s presentation of the watch. A separate video review, “F.P. Journe Vagabondage III in Platinum Luxury Watch Review,” was published by 1916 Company Watch Reviews on January 24, 2018. That is a dated retailer-publisher review; use it as a contemporary viewing impression rather than as the authority for specifications.

F.P. Journe states the case dimensions as 45.2 × 37.6 mm. Phillips described its particular auction example as 45 mm long and 37.5 mm wide, a small difference consistent with a different measurement convention rather than a different official specification.

Editions and production numbers
The manufacturer lists three editions: 69 platinum watches, 68 watches in 18K 6N gold, and 10 platinum jewellery examples. The jewellery version is a distinct, smaller edition; the figures should not be collapsed into a single metal-only count. F.P. Journe’s 2018 Journal 2 separately reported 69 platinum and 68 red-gold pieces in its account of the 2017 launch.
Historical prices and what they do—and don’t—tell you
F.P. Journe Journal 2 reported launch-era prices of CHF 56,000 for platinum and CHF 54,000 for red gold, with availability from the first quarter of 2017. These are 2017 launch prices as reported in the 2018 journal, not present-day retail or asking prices.

For a later historical reference, Phillips records a platinum example numbered 26/69-VIII, dated 2018. It carried an estimate of CHF 140,000–280,000 and sold for CHF 292,100. That is one auction result for one example in a particular sale context; it does not establish a current market value or a representative price range. A current asking price would need to be checked against live, region-specific listings and the particular watch’s condition and provenance.

Because the editions differ in metal, decoration and number produced, confirm which version is being offered before comparing examples. For any secondary-market watch, the individual condition and provenance matter alongside its edition. A historical result for a platinum watch cannot by itself set the value of a gold or jewellery edition, or of another platinum watch.
