There is no single official winner: Formula 1’s sport-wide timekeeper and the teams’ individual watch partners play different roles. TAG Heuer has the broadest exposure as F1’s Official Timekeeper from 2025, while IWC makes one of the strongest team-level cases with its long-running Mercedes partnership and a dedicated 2026 team watch.
Who is Formula 1’s official timekeeper in 2026?
TAG Heuer is Formula 1’s Official Timekeeper, a championship-wide role that began in 2025 as part of F1’s ten-year partnership with LVMH. That does not make TAG Heuer the watch sponsor of every team. The sport’s partner page lists Formula 1, Carrera and Monaco collections alongside the timekeeping partnership. Formula 1’s partner page and the 2025 announcement establish the distinction.
Formula One World Championship Limited said in its 6 January 2025 announcement that TAG Heuer’s team associations had yielded 230 wins, 595 podiums, 8,882 points, 11 World Constructors’ Championships and 14 World Drivers’ Championships. These are historical figures attributed by the publisher to those associations, not a current-season tally or an independently recalculated comparison.

Which team has a dedicated 2026 watch?
Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS and IWC
IWC announced reference IW388121, the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team, on 27 August 2026. The watchmaker describes a 41 mm chronograph in Grade 5 titanium with a vivid purple dial inspired by Singapore’s national flower, Vanda Miss Joaquim. IWC says its Mercedes partnership began in 2013. IWC’s announcement gives the model details; the team partner page documents the relationship.
What the other partnerships establish
TUDOR’s Racing Bulls page confirms a 2026 partnership and visible team branding, but does not identify a dedicated retail watch. TAG Heuer’s F1 page links the brand’s collections to its sport-wide timekeeping role; it does not show that every Formula 1 collection model is a team edition. The available evidence therefore supports a clear IWC team-watch example, not a complete catalogue of official watches for every team.

Who wins the horological championship?
There is no published official ranking of watch-partner quality, sponsorship value or brand performance. A useful editorial comparison is to judge breadth of exposure, partnership depth and duration, visible integration, and whether the partnership has produced a recognizable team watch.
- For breadth: TAG Heuer has the strongest case because its timekeeping role is championship-wide, rather than confined to one team.
- For an established team relationship and a named 2026 watch: IWC stands out through its Mercedes partnership, documented since 2013, and the IW388121.
- For visible 2026 team branding: TUDOR’s official Racing Bulls page specifically identifies rear-wing and driver-suit branding.
- For a watch to look for by collection: Formula 1’s partner page points to TAG Heuer Formula 1, Carrera and Monaco collections, but verify the exact model and do not assume it is a team edition.
That makes TAG Heuer the breadth winner and IWC the clearest team-watch example on the evidence available. They win different contests; neither is a verdict on comparative watch quality.
