The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar “John Mayer” Limited Edition, reference 26574BC.OO.1220BC.02, pairs an 18-carat white-gold case and bracelet with a dark-blue “Crystal Sky” dial. Its significance is as much about timing as design: AP calls it the last limited edition fitted with selfwinding Calibre 5134.
What is the John Mayer Audemars Piguet Royal Oak?
It is a limited-edition Royal Oak perpetual calendar created in collaboration with John Mayer, the American singer, songwriter and guitarist. The official model name is Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar “John Mayer” Limited Edition; its reference is 26574BC.OO.1220BC.02. AP identifies the case and bracelet as 18-carat white gold, with a dark-blue dial. Audemars Piguet’s reference page lists the model details.
What makes the Crystal Sky dial distinctive?
The dial’s dark-blue surface carries an embossed, irregular motif that AP calls “Crystal Sky.” The company says Mayer worked with its teams on the design, which evokes crystal-like forms and uses a new scintillating finish. AP describes the stamping die as made atom by atom through electroforming; that account is the manufacturer’s description of its process.
Mayer explained the visual intent in a statement published by AP: “My favourite watches have dials that you can stare endlessly at. A great watch dial feels like a picture window – you look into it, not at it. In the case of this QP, it’s like looking up at a moonless sky. There is a true sense of nature in it.” He connected that sense of depth and vastness with the perpetual calendar’s technical complexity. AP’s collaboration page also quotes CEO Ilaria Resta on the creative partnership.

Why is it the last Calibre 5134 limited edition?
AP presents the John Mayer model as the final limited edition equipped with its selfwinding Calibre 5134. The wording matters: it identifies the end of a limited-edition chapter for this calibre, not necessarily the end of every Royal Oak perpetual calendar or every use of the movement.
In AP’s account, Calibre 5134 launched in 2015 to adapt the perpetual-calendar movement to the 41 mm Model 26574. The company gives the calibre’s thickness as 4.3 mm. AP traces its movement lineage to Calibre 2120/2800, launched in 1978, which it describes as 3.95 mm thick and the world’s thinnest selfwinding perpetual-calendar movement at that time. Those dates, dimensions and historical distinctions are manufacturer-reported figures, not independent measurements or a complete history of perpetual calendars.
