Fortis introduced the traveler-oriented V-40 Vagabond GMT in October 2024. The collection pairs a 40 mm Grade 5 titanium case with a prominent 18k white-gold 24-hour ring and an automatic, chronometer-certified GMT/date movement. Fortis’s current collection page lists Stormy Gray, Blue Dusk and Urban Shadow, each at CHF 6,250 on a Block Bracelet as of October 7, 2026.
What is the Fortis V-40 Vagabond GMT?
The Vagabond is Fortis’s GMT collection for travelers, introduced in an official announcement dated October 13, 2024. Monochrome Watches published its first look the following day. Fortis’s current collection page continues to list three V-40 versions: Stormy Gray, Blue Dusk and Urban Shadow. Fortis’s Vagabond collection page frames the watch around keeping “home time” in view; that is the brand’s positioning rather than a separate performance claim.
Fortis’s announcement uses the phrase “Because Home is the Most Precious” as its English rendering of the German “Weil das Zuhause das Wertvollste ist.” The collection page also quotes Benny Greb, whom Fortis credits as “Master of Drums”: “The vagabond keeps me connected to home, even when I’m halfway across the world.” Both are the manufacturer’s words.
How does the V-40’s GMT work?
The large 24-hour ring is made of 18k white gold. Fortis presents it as the way to keep home time visible while traveling. Monochrome’s October 14, 2024 first look describes the Werk 13’s traveler-GMT operation: the local-time hour hand jumps in increments for adjustment, while the 24-hour display can remain set to home time. Monochrome also reports that the date can be changed in either direction. These operating details are attributed to Monochrome; no measured accuracy result is established here.

That jumping-hour adjustment is useful when crossing time zones because it allows local time to be changed without resetting the minute hand. The watch also displays the date. Fortis identifies the movement as chronometer-certified, but the certification should not be mistaken for an independently reported measurement of this individual watch’s timekeeping.

Colors, price and what comes with it
As of October 7, 2026, Fortis lists Stormy Gray, Blue Dusk and Urban Shadow on Block Bracelets at CHF 6,250 each. That is the brand’s listed Swiss-franc price on its official pages on that date, not a converted or universal regional price; availability and pricing may change. The Stormy Gray product page identifies the reference as F6660000.
Fortis states that the watch includes a chronometer certificate and user manual. The product page also lists a reversible screwdriver for strap or bracelet changes and a mirror tool for adjusting a bracelet purchased through its webshop. Fortis offers a local-dealer option on the product page.
What stands out in this first look?
The V-40 combines a compact-for-a-traveler-GMT 40 mm titanium case and a 200 m water-resistance rating with a more polished visual focal point: its conspicuous white-gold 24-hour ring. The useful functional distinction is the reported jumping local-time hour adjustment, supported by a chronometer-certified movement and 70-hour reserve. These are documented features, not a head-to-head finding that the Vagabond is superior to competing GMT watches.
