Its design takes inspiration from a mountain valley where snow remains alongside summer greenery; “Sekkei” names that visual concept, not a technical function. Grand Seiko lists the watch at USD 7,600 on its US product page, checked October 5, 2026.
What is the Grand Seiko SBGJ277 Sekkei?
Reference SBGJ277 belongs to Grand Seiko’s Sport Collection. Its white textured dial and green rotating bezel are intended to suggest a snowy mountain valley in summer. The color pairing gives the watch a distinctive look, while the bezel and 24-hour hand serve a practical GMT role.
Grand Seiko describes the watch as housing its mechanical Hi-Beat 36000 GMT Caliber 9S86, which “runs at ten beats per second while offering excellent rate stability and resistance to outside interference.” That description is the brand’s characterization; the phrase “excellent rate stability” is not an independent measurement.
What does “Sekkei” mean?
“Sekkei” is Grand Seiko’s name for the snowy-valley design concept behind the dial and bezel. It describes the visual inspiration: snow remaining in a mountain valley while green growth signals summer. It is not a movement specification or a separate GMT mode.

How big is the SBGJ277?
The stainless-steel case measures 44.2 mm in diameter, 50.6 mm lug-to-lug and 14.4 mm thick; the listed band width is 21 mm. The watch weighs 188 g. Those dimensions and weight indicate a substantial watch on paper, but they do not establish how it will fit an individual wrist.
How does the SBGJ277 GMT work?
The watch combines a 24-hour hand with a rotating 24-hour bezel for dual-time use. Grand Seiko says the arrangement can be used to check up to three time zones and includes calendar-linked time-difference adjustment. The official specification identifies those functions but does not provide a step-by-step setting procedure on the model page.

What movement and accuracy does Grand Seiko specify?
The SBGJ277 uses caliber 9S86, an automatic movement that can also be wound manually. Grand Seiko lists an approximately 55-hour power reserve and a normal-usage accuracy range of +8 to -1 seconds per day. This is the manufacturer’s stated normal-use figure, not a guarantee that every individual watch will keep time within that range in every wearer’s conditions.
Grand Seiko separately gives a mean daily rate of +5 to -3 seconds per day. It defines this as a pre-casing test conducted at six positions under artificially controlled conditions over 12 days. That controlled figure should not be confused with the normal-usage accuracy range.

Those are specifications from the earlier announcement, not a separate test of this SBGJ277.
