The Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Titanium Dragon is an 88-piece limited edition announced on 8 January 2024 for the Year of the Wood Dragon. Created with Chinese artist Chen Fen Wan, it turns watch components into a layered, paper-cutting-inspired dragon—and carries the motif beyond the dial onto a decorated rubber strap.
What makes the Titanium Dragon distinctive?
Hublot built the design around Chinese paper-cutting and the Eastern dragon, also known as the loong. The multi-level dial adapts Chen Fen Wan’s artwork into a three-dimensional silhouette: hands, wheels and H-shaped screws become part of the composition rather than simply sitting apart from it. Hublot describes the dragon’s head as five alternating layers, with the body and colored scales continuing onto the strap. The Year of the Wood Dragon also gives the paper-cutting reference a connection to natural fibers in Hublot’s presentation. Hublot’s official announcement introduced the watch on 8 January 2024.
The strap is an unusual part of the collaboration. Hublot calls it the first rubber strap with a marquetry design for the brand: colored scales are nano-vulcanised into the rubber. Monochrome Watches reported that decorating the strap takes up to eight hours; that time estimate is Monochrome’s, not Hublot’s. The package also includes a titanium-grey Velcro fabric strap.

What movement does it use?
The watch uses Hublot’s HUB1710 self-winding movement and has a 50-hour power reserve. Monochrome reports that the calibre is based on Zenith’s Elite 670 and gives its frequency as 28,800 vibrations per hour, with 166 components and 27 jewels. Those construction details are Monochrome’s reporting; Hublot’s product specifications identify the movement as HUB1710.

Hublot limited the Spirit of Big Bang Titanium Dragon to 88 pieces. Monochrome’s 12 January 2024 launch coverage reported original retail prices of CHF 28,000, EUR 30,800, USD 29,500 and GBP 25,400.
