The Longines Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve puts its defining complication where few watches do: on rotating discs at the centre of the dial. In the anthracite 38 mm reference L1.648.4.62.2, that display is paired with an automatic movement rated for up to 72 hours of power reserve. It is a distinctive take on a late-1950s Conquest; whether the display, case size and specific dial-and-strap configuration suit you depends on what you want from a daily watch.
A Conquest anniversary watch with a central display
Longines announced the Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve on 25 January 2024, marking 70 years of the Conquest collection. The Swatch Group dates the collection’s origin to 1954. Longines says the design takes inspiration from an iconic Conquest model from the late 1950s.

The unusual feature is the power-reserve indication: rotating discs show it in the centre of the dial, rather than in a conventional subdial or a separate indicator elsewhere. Longines describes this arrangement as “unique in the world of watchmaking”; that is the manufacturer’s characterization, not an independently established comparison of every watch on the market. Longines’ 25 January 2024 announcement explains the design and anniversary context.

How to think about the central power-reserve indicator
The display’s position is the main reason to consider this watch over a more conventional three-hand heritage design. A central indication gives the reserve a prominent role alongside the hands and date, rather than treating it as a small secondary complication. That visual choice will appeal most if you actively want to see the remaining reserve on the dial; if you prefer a quieter, more traditional layout, it may be the feature that makes the watch feel busy.

- Automatic L898 Movement, Hours, minutes, small seconds at 3 o'clock. Chronograph mechanism: central 60 seconds hand, 12 hours counter at 6 o'clock and 30 minutes counter at 9 o'clock. Screw-down and transparent with sapphire crystal case back
- Stainless steel with triple safety folding clasp and push-piece opening mechanism
- 5 Year International Warranty
The stated “up to 72 hours” describes the movement’s maximum power reserve, not a guarantee that every wear pattern or condition will produce precisely that duration. The listed 25,200 vibrations per hour and silicon balance-spring identify movement characteristics, but by themselves do not establish real-world accuracy or long-term reliability.
Dial and bracelet options vary by market
Longines’ cited product page shows five configurations spanning anthracite, black, opaline ivory and light-blue opaline dials, with alligator-strap versions and a light-blue option on a steel bracelet. Fratello also covered a light-blue opaline dial and bracelet configuration. Those listings do not establish that every configuration is sold in every country or currently in stock.

Before choosing a variant, compare the details that can change the wearing experience and the purchase:
- Dial colour: Consider whether you prefer the darker anthracite or black look, the lighter ivory, or the blue option; inspect the specific reference for the exact dial description.
- Strap or bracelet: The anthracite reference L1.648.4.62.2 is listed on an alligator strap, while a light-blue steel-bracelet configuration is also documented.
- Reference and local availability: Confirm the full reference number and configuration on your local Longines site or with a retailer. Do not assume a pictured variant is available in your market.
- Local price: Check the current price for the exact regional reference rather than applying the US listing to another market.
Longines’ US product page is the source for its listed configurations and the anthracite reference’s specifications; the Fratello coverage discusses the light-blue opaline and bracelet variation.

What this first look can—and cannot—tell you
The published specifications and launch information establish what Longines says the watch is: a 38 mm heritage-style automatic with a central rotating-disc power-reserve display, up to 72 hours of reserve and 5 bar water resistance in the cited anthracite reference. They do not establish how accurately a particular example keeps time, how comfortable it feels on an individual wrist, how it holds up over years, or whether its price represents good value. Those judgments require evidence beyond a specification sheet and launch materials.
For the same reason, owner questions such as “Is it worth the price?” cannot be answered by the listed features alone. The practical decision is whether the central display and the particular size, dial and attachment are compelling enough to justify the current local price for you; no long-term test or directly comparable value analysis is established here. The community discussion reflects those questions, but it is not a substitute for a named independent long-term review.
