The Longines Spirit Zulu Time Titanium 39 mm, reference L3.802.1.53.6, is a travel-focused automatic GMT with a Grade 5 titanium case and bracelet. Its defining practical feature is a flyer-style GMT: the local hour hand can be moved independently in one-hour steps while the 24-hour hand continues to indicate a second time zone. Longines lists the watch at CHF 3,800 on its Swiss-market product page; that is a regional listing, not a universal or guaranteed current price.
What the Spirit Zulu Time Titanium 39 mm offers
Longines’ current product listing describes reference L3.802.1.53.6 as a 39 mm automatic watch with date, GMT indication, a bidirectional bezel with ceramic insert, and sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment. The case and bracelet are Grade 5 titanium, according to Longines International Public Relations. The brand describes the alloy as robust and lightweight; no independent weight measurement is available here.

That is the manufacturer’s stated performance, not an independently verified test result. The published weight is likewise a publication estimate that varies with bracelet length, not a measurement of every example.
Is the Longines Zulu Time a true GMT?
Yes, in the travel-watch sense usually called a flyer or traveller GMT. The wearer can adjust the local hour hand independently in one-hour increments, while the 24-hour GMT hand continues to show another time zone. This makes it useful when crossing time zones: adjust local time without resetting the reference time shown by the GMT hand. The bidirectional 24-hour bezel provides an additional way to track another zone.
#1 Best Overall
- Automatic L844 movement, hours, minutes, seconds and date. 24 hours hand with time zone mechanism
- Stainless steel with double safety folding clasp and push-piece opening mechanism
Longines’ product page confirms GMT/date functionality and the bidirectional bezel; Hodinkee and Monochrome Watches describe the independent local-hour adjustment in their 2024 launch coverage. The available evidence does not establish an accuracy result for a particular watch or wearer.
How thick is the Longines Spirit Zulu Time 39 mm?
Hodinkee’s 2024 launch coverage reports a thickness of 13.5 mm and a lug-to-lug measurement of 46.7 mm. Those figures help put the 39 mm diameter in context: the diameter alone does not determine how the watch sits on a wrist, and the lug-to-lug span and thickness matter too. Monochrome Watches estimated the bracelet-equipped watch at 95.5 g, depending on bracelet length. These are published figures, not measurements made for this article.

The 21 mm lug width is useful when considering a replacement strap, but confirm the fit of a particular strap and its end configuration before buying. A nominal width does not establish compatibility with every third-party strap.
What does titanium change?
The principal distinction of this reference is its Grade 5 titanium case and bracelet. Longines characterizes the material as lightweight and robust, and Monochrome’s 2024 published estimate provides a sense of total bracelet weight. There is no independent weighing or direct comparison with a steel Zulu Time here, so the evidence supports identifying the material and reporting the estimate—not claiming a measured weight saving or predicting how it will feel on an individual wrist.

Longines Spirit Zulu Time Titanium price by market
Longines’ Swiss-market product page displayed CHF 3,800 when accessed on 2026-10-08. That figure applies to that regional page and can change. At launch in 2024, Monochrome Watches reported EUR 4,500 and Hodinkee reported USD 4,275 for their respective markets. Those are dated, market-specific launch prices, not directly comparable current prices. Check Longines’ local product page or retailer locator for the applicable market and current availability.
Why the name “Zulu Time”?
Swatch Group traces the name to a Longines dual-time-zone wristwatch made in 1925, whose dial included a Zulu flag. In the company’s 2022 account, “Z” designates universal time in the aviation and armed-forces context. The historical name connects the model to time-zone tracking, while this reference applies that idea through a modern automatic GMT movement.

Who should consider this reference?
- Consider it if you want a mechanical GMT with independently adjustable local-hour hand, date, and a bidirectional 24-hour bezel.
- Consider it if Grade 5 titanium and a bracelet-equipped configuration are central to your choice, and the published 39 mm diameter and reported dimensions suit your fit preferences.
- Compare alternatives carefully if price, bracelet weight, or wrist fit is decisive. Use the same market and date for price comparisons, and compare thickness, lug-to-lug, lug width, GMT adjustment style, reserve, and certification rather than diameter alone.
This is a specification-led first look, not a hands-on review: no wear test, independent weighing, timekeeping measurement, magnetic test, or water-resistance test was conducted.
