What makes this Seamaster an Olympic edition?
OMEGA frames the watch as a link to its Olympic timekeeping history and to Seamaster designs associated with the 1956 Melbourne Games. The brand says the symmetrical, polished Moonshine Gold case and hexagonal crown echo early Olympic timepieces. OMEGA President and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann described the model as representing the company’s Olympic excellence since Los Angeles, and said the Seamaster 37 mm design has remained remarkably consistent since Melbourne 1956 while its timekeeping technology evolved. These are OMEGA’s own descriptions of the heritage connection.
OMEGA’s announcement says its Olympic timekeeping journey spans more than nine decades. That history is the brand’s characterization of its role, rather than an independent assessment.
Case and dial details
The 37 mm case is made of 18K Moonshine Gold. On the white Grand Feu enamel dial, sculptured Moonshine Gold hour markers sit alongside diamond-polished, faceted gold dauphine hands. Gray markings are transferred in Petit Feu enamel. The product sheet gives a 45 mm lug-to-lug measurement and 11.35 mm thickness, dimensions that help describe the watch’s proportions beyond its headline diameter.
A sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective treatment covers the dial. The caseback carries a medallion featuring the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic logo.
Movement, certification and water resistance
The watch uses OMEGA’s self-winding Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8807. The manufacturer lists a 55-hour power reserve and magnetic resistance up to 15,000 gauss. OMEGA says Master Chronometer testing is certified by METAS, the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology. These are manufacturer-stated specifications and certification details, not independent test results.

The 19 mm lug width is useful when looking for a strap, but it does not by itself establish that a particular replacement strap or buckle will fit. Confirm compatibility with reference 522.53.37.20.04.001 before ordering. OMEGA supplies this model on a brown alligator strap with a Moonshine Gold pin buckle.
