Maurice Lacroix introduced Aikonic—styled AIKON-IC on the brand’s official page—as a new, more material-focused branch of its urban-watch range on 19 August 2025. It keeps the Aikon family’s six-claw bezel motif but pairs it with a directional carbon dial, ceramic details, a newly developed automatic movement and a bi-material rubber strap. The result is a sportier, more technical interpretation of the Aikon design language, rather than simply another dial or color option.

What is the Maurice Lacroix Aikonic?

Aikonic is a collection of automatic time-and-date watches that extends Maurice Lacroix’s urban range. The brand describes it as incorporating “cutting-edge materials and technology”; that is the manufacturer’s positioning, while the concrete differences are the carbon dial, ceramic bezel and crown treatment, ML1000 calibre, and strap-and-case execution.

The launch was announced by Maurice Lacroix on 19 August 2025, with the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry publishing its account on 28 August. The brand identifies Saignelégier as its manufacture and notes that some components are sourced locally. Maurice Lacroix’s launch announcement and the Federation’s account give the collection context.

What makes the Aikonic look sportier and edgier?

A carbon dial with directional grain

The dial uses carbon fibers arranged in a north-to-south direction, creating alternating grey and black lines. Because the pattern varies from dial to dial, the surface has individual variation rather than a completely uniform finish. The brand and the Swiss watch industry body describe this construction, but neither establishes a quantified level of uniqueness or a special durability claim. Maurice Lacroix and the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry explain the directional carbon.

Ceramic around the bezel and crown

The official launch page describes a matte ceramic bezel and ceramic treatment on the crown. At launch, the four reported versions used black, blue or white ceramic bezel accents, with strap colors coordinated to the individual reference. This combination gives the watch a sharper, more technical appearance than the familiar metal-claw bezel alone.

A different expression of the Aikon design

The recognizable six-claw bezel links Aikonic to the Aikon family, while the carbon surface, ceramic and rubber strap move the design toward a more overtly sporty look. That is a design distinction, not proof that Aikonic is better than any particular Aikon. A precise model-to-model comparison would require the exact Aikon reference, since dimensions, materials, movement and price can differ across that range.

What are the original Aikonic specifications?

The figures below describe the original launch models as reported in 2025. They should not automatically be applied to later variants or to a different AIKON-IC reference.

Bezel and crown Matte ceramic bezel and ceramic crown treatment, as described by Maurice Lacroix; launch report lists black, blue or white bezel options.

Detailed case, display and movement figures come from Monochrome Watches’ launch report. The brand’s account of the ML1000 and its published performance is on the official launch page; the Federation also reports the reserve and rate in its collection coverage.

How does the ML1000 movement fit the watch?

Maurice Lacroix says the automatic ML1000 was developed with Soprod. Its published 60-hour power reserve and average daily rate of ±4 seconds are notable headline figures, but they should be read as manufacturer and industry-body specifications—not as a guarantee that every watch will run at exactly that rate on the wrist. The 28,800 vibrations per hour and 26 jewels are figures given by Monochrome Watches in its launch report.

What straps and references were available at launch?

The initial strap is a bi-material rubber design with a textile-look insert. Maurice Lacroix’s ML Easy Change system allows the strap to be removed and refitted without tools. That does not establish compatibility with every third-party strap; check the exact reference and strap fit before buying an alternative.

Monochrome Watches listed four original references and their launch color treatments:

AC6008-SSL40-330-4 Blue bezel and strap
AC6008-SSL40-331-4 Black bezel with light-blue accents and strap
AC6008-SSL70-330-2 White bezel with black-and-white strap

These are launch-era references, not a statement of current stock. For a later model, confirm its specification and availability on the exact product page rather than assuming it matches the original time-and-date watches.

What did the Aikonic cost at launch?

Monochrome Watches reported a CHF 2,950 launch price in 2025. That is a historical launch figure, not a current quote. At the time of its page capture, Maurice Lacroix’s Malaysia site listed several steel references at RM 15,300 and one two-tone reference at RM 16,500. Those are regional listings and should not be converted into a current price for another country. Prices and availability can change; verify the current local listing for the specific reference.

How does Aikonic differ from Aikon?

Aikonic retains the family’s six-claw bezel language, but its launch identity rests on the directional carbon dial, matte ceramic details, ML1000 automatic calibre and textile-look bi-material rubber strap. Those features support calling it a sportier and edgier take on the Aikon. The launch sources do not provide a complete, reference-matched Aikon comparison, so claims about which is thinner, more accurate, more water-resistant or better value depend on the particular Aikon model being considered.

One naming detail matters when searching: the original collection is described here as Aikonic, following the independent launch coverage, while Maurice Lacroix styles the official collection page as AIKON-IC. The separate US official product page for AIKON-IC automatic chronograph skeleton reference AC8018 is a different watch; its specifications should not be attributed to the original 43 mm time-and-date models.
