The Rolex Perpetual 1908 reference 52508 is a 39 mm yellow-gold dress watch, and the configuration drawing fresh attention is the one Rolex presented in 2025 with a seven-row Settimo bracelet and intense white dial. The 1908 collection itself is not new: Rolex launched it in 2023. This first look is therefore about the bracelet-equipped 52508, not the debut of a new watch collection.
What is new about the Rolex 1908 reference 52508?
Reference 52508 identifies a 39 mm Perpetual 1908 in 18 ct yellow gold. Rolex’s 2025 announcement introduced a new bracelet option for the 1908: the Settimo, made from seven rows of small links, entirely in 18 ct yellow gold, and closed with a concealed Crownclasp. Rolex showed it on a yellow-gold model with an intense white dial. Rolex’s announcement describes the new bracelet configuration.
The distinction matters because the 1908 collection launched in 2023. The 52508 is a reference, not a complete configuration name; Rolex also lists yellow-gold versions on an alligator-leather strap. When identifying or looking up a particular watch, include its dial and bracelet or strap rather than relying on “52508” alone.
Design and case details
The case measures 39 mm across and is made from 18 ct yellow gold. Rolex’s technical brochure lists a domed and fluted bezel, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and a transparent domed case back with anti-reflective coating. Water resistance is rated at 50 metres (165 feet). These are manufacturer specifications, not results from an independent test. The dial has Arabic numerals at 3, 9 and 12, faceted hour markers, and a small-seconds display at 6 o’clock. Rolex describes the hour hand as Breguet-style and the minute hand as shaped like a two-edged sword. The intense white dial shown with the Settimo bracelet is one specific configuration; the reference number alone does not specify the dial.
Movement and timekeeping
The watch uses Rolex calibre 7140, a mechanical self-winding movement with bidirectional winding. The technical brochure lists a Syloxi silicon hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers, and states precision of −2/+2 seconds per day after casing. That figure is Rolex’s stated specification; the cited sources do not establish an independent accuracy test.

The display consists of central hours and minutes plus small seconds at 6 o’clock. Rolex says calibre 7140 was introduced for the 1908’s 2023 launch and is used exclusively by the model. The brand characterizes it as being “at the forefront of watchmaking technology”; that is Rolex’s promotional wording, not an independent evaluation.
Why the name 1908?
Rolex says the collection takes inspiration from one of its early watches fitted with a Perpetual rotor. The name points to 1908, which the brand identifies as the year Hans Wilsdorf devised the name “Rolex” for his creations and registered the brand in Switzerland. This is Rolex’s account of the collection’s historical references, rather than a claim that the modern watch recreates a specific vintage model.

At the time its China product page was accessed in 2026, Rolex displayed a price of RMB 329,500 for the 52508 with intense white dial and Settimo bracelet. This is a China-market price for that stated configuration, not a global price or a price for every 52508. Check the relevant local Rolex listing for current regional pricing and configuration details. Rolex’s China product page shows the cited configuration and price.
