The Seiko Presage SPB445 pairs a mechanical movement with a dial made from Arita porcelain—a distinctive material choice, not a printed imitation. Its appeal rests on the contrast between that hand-worked white surface and a restrained, traditional watch design. Seiko lists a 40.6 mm steel case, a three-day power reserve and a U.S. price of $1,900; prices differ by market. The specifications below are manufacturer-published, not independent hands-on findings.

What is special about the Seiko Presage SPB445?

The SPB445 belongs to Seiko’s Presage Classic Series “Craftsmanship” line. Its defining feature is a Hakuji-style Arita porcelain dial: Seiko says a transparent glaze brings out the porcelain’s white color. Simple bar indexes keep the surface in focus, while a recessed 24-hour subdial sits at six o’clock. Seiko’s product page identifies the watch and describes its design.

This is a mechanical watch with a dial material more often associated with ceramics and tableware. Seiko credits Arita master craftsman Hiroyuki Hashiguchi and colleagues at a local manufacturer with a porcelain-making history dating to 1830. The brand says the material is fired at 1,300 degrees, glazed and fired multiple times, and is more than four times harder than usual porcelain. Those craft and hardness details are Seiko’s claims; its page does not provide an independent test method for the comparison. Seiko’s Arita craftsmanship page explains the process.

Arita’s porcelain history predates this model: Seiko’s 2019 announcement places the discovery of suitable clay in Arita in the early 17th century. That announcement concerns earlier SPB093 and SPB095 models, not the SPB445’s release date. Seiko’s 2019 announcement provides that historical context.

Is the SPB445 dial real porcelain?

Yes. Seiko identifies the dial as Arita porcelain, rather than a porcelain-look coating or printed pattern. The brand also notes that the process can leave small dimples, tiny dots or uneven color. It says no two genuine Arita porcelain dials are exactly alike. These are possible variations, not proof that every mark or irregularity is normal; appearance alone cannot establish authenticity.

How big is the Seiko SPB445?

Seiko lists a 40.6 mm case diameter, 49.1 mm lug-to-lug length and 12.5 mm thickness. The lug distance is 20 mm, and the listed weight is 150 g. These measurements help compare the watch with one you already own, but they cannot predict how it will sit on a particular wrist.

The case and multi-row bracelet are stainless steel with a super-hard coating. The crystal is dual-curved sapphire with an inner anti-reflective coating. Seiko also specifies a see-through screw case back. The official specification page lists these construction details.

What movement does it use, and how long is its power reserve?

The SPB445 uses Seiko caliber 6R5H, an automatic movement that can also be wound by hand. Its power reserve is approximately 72 hours, or three days, according to Seiko. The movement has 24 jewels, a 24-hour hand and a stop-seconds function.

Seiko’s stated accuracy rating is +25 to -15 seconds per day. That is the manufacturer’s published specification, not a measured result for an individual watch. Seiko’s model specifications give the movement details and rating.

What protection does Seiko specify?

Seiko lists water resistance of 10 bar and magnetic resistance of 4,800 A/m. These are the manufacturer’s figures; they are not, by themselves, a recommendation for a particular water activity or magnetic environment.

How much does the SPB445 cost?

Seiko’s official regional product pages list different prices. The figures below are listed prices, not a universal price or a guarantee of current stock. Prices were checked for this article on October 8, 2026; confirm the current amount and availability with Seiko or a local authorized retailer.

Market Listed price Official page
United States USD 1,900 Seiko U.S.
Singapore SGD 2,725 Seiko Singapore
Australia AUD 2,990 Seiko Australia
Portugal EUR 2,100 Seiko Portugal
Poland PLN 8,800 Seiko Poland

Who might appreciate the SPB445?

The SPB445 is most distinctive for someone who values a craft-made dial and wants it in a mechanical watch with a bracelet, rather than a conventional metal dial or a strap-focused dress-watch presentation. Its porcelain surface is the central design feature; the 24-hour subdial, visible movement and 72-hour reserve add practical mechanical-watch details. Whether the size and weight suit you is personal, and Seiko’s listed dimensions are a useful starting point for comparison.
