Announced on January 6, 2026, the four use gold-colored accents to connect distinct Seiko legacies; the most unexpected is the Presage, whose pocket-watch-inspired styling recalls an early Seiko Timekeeper.
What are Seiko’s four 145th-anniversary watches?
Seiko ties the quartet to different parts of its history: engraved design language for King Seiko, sports timing for the Speedtimer, early pocket-watch styling for Presage and GPS technology for Astron. The table summarizes the specifications and U.S. prices Seiko Watch Corporation published in its January 6, 2026 announcement. Prices are U.S. manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP); limited quantities are the stated edition sizes.

Why is the Presage SPB538 the vintage surprise?
The SPB538 translates the look of a variation of Seiko’s early Timekeeper pocket watch into a wristwatch. Its onion-shaped crown and sculpted bezel give the case a more old-fashioned silhouette than the other three anniversary models, while the smooth white enamel dial, slender Roman numerals and box-shaped crystal continue that period-inspired effect.

#1 Best Overall
- Case Width: 1.4 inches (36 mm)
- Wrist Circumference: 5.5 - 7.5 inches (140 - 190 mm)
- Automatic
- Day Date RPA2023 Skeleton Back
At 35 mm across, it is the smallest of the original four. Its Caliber 6R51 is an automatic movement with a 72-hour power reserve, making the watch’s vintage appearance a design choice rather than a pocket-watch mechanism.
How do the other three express Seiko’s history?
King Seiko: engraved design language
The SJE121 uses a gray graduated dial and an engraved-pattern motif as its anniversary cue. Gold-colored hands, markers and lettering contrast with the dial, while the multi-row bracelet gives this 39.4 mm model a more compact profile than the two larger sports-oriented watches.

Prospex Speedtimer: sports timing
The SRQ059 draws on Seiko Speedtimer designs from the 1960s and 1970s. Its automatic chronograph uses a column wheel and vertical clutch, with separate 30-minute and 12-hour counters. At 42 mm wide and 14.6 mm thick, it is the quartet’s chronograph option.
Astron: GPS innovation
The SSH186 is the largest of the original four at 44.1 mm. Its solar-powered Caliber 5X83 can adjust the time and time zone using GPS and offers dual time, a 1/20-second chronograph, a perpetual calendar running to 2100 and support for 38 time zones.

What does the 145th anniversary commemorate?
Seiko traces the anniversary to 1881, when founder Kintaro Hattori opened a Ginza shop in Tokyo to import, sell and repair timepieces. He established the Seikosha factory in 1892, and the factory produced the company’s first pocket watch, the Timekeeper, in 1895. The anniversary designs draw on both this early watchmaking history and the founder’s emphasis on looking ahead.
