Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

The result is still a small Swiss automatic dive watch, but with better bezel durability and a more robust stated shock-resistance package than the earlier C032 generation.
What changed for 2025?
The new C048 collection is an evolution rather than a ground-up redesign. Certina retains the DS Action Diver identity, 38 mm format, Powermatic 80.611 movement and Nivachron balance spring. The visible and structural changes are concentrated in the bezel and shock-protection system.
Ceramic bezel insert
C048 models use a scratch-resistant ceramic bezel. The cited older C032.807.22.051.01 specification used an aluminium bezel, so ceramic is the clearest day-to-day upgrade: it should better resist the small scratches and fading associated with regular bezel use, although the rest of the watch can still show normal wear.
Enhanced DS Concept Extreme Shock Resistance
Certina also identifies its enhanced DS Concept Extreme Shock Resistance system as a C048 upgrade. The brand positions this as additional protection for active use. It does not change the watch’s water-resistance rating or movement specification, but it strengthens the tool-watch proposition for owners who expect knocks during sport, travel or outdoor work.

Is it a practical everyday dive watch?
On paper, yes. The 38 mm diameter and 45.01 mm lug-to-lug length make the C048 substantially more compact than many modern 300-metre divers, while the 13.22 mm height still reflects the depth rating and automatic movement. The 19 mm lug spacing is narrower than the common 20 mm standard, so replacement straps need to be selected for the exact width.
Water-resistance credentials
The 300 m rating is certified to ISO 6425:2018. Certina says every one of these diver’s watches is tested in water for three hours as required by the standard. That is a stronger assurance than a purely nominal depth label, although water resistance remains dependent on the watch’s condition and correctly secured crown and seals.

Power reserve for real schedules
The Powermatic 80.611 stores up to 80 hours of power when fully wound. That allows the watch to keep running through a typical weekend off the wrist, reducing the need to reset it on Monday. The Nivachron balance spring is specified for improved antimagnetic protection and accuracy stability.
Size and wearing comfort
The 38 mm case suits smaller and medium wrists and anyone who prefers a restrained diver. Titanium references should feel lighter than steel versions, while PVD versions change the surface finish rather than the basic case dimensions. Actual comfort still depends on bracelet sizing, clasp adjustment and wrist shape.

C048 variants: steel, PVD, titanium and colours
| Variant family | What distinguishes it | Best fit for |
|---|---|---|
| 316L stainless steel | Traditional bright steel case and bracelet treatment | Buyers wanting the most conventional, versatile tool-watch appearance |
| PVD-treated steel | Dark coated finish on the steel case and bracelet, reference dependent | Those who prefer a more tactical monochrome look |
| Titanium | Lighter case and bracelet construction, reference dependent | Owners prioritising lower wrist weight for long wear or activity |
| Blue, black or green dials | Official C048 colour options vary by reference | Blue for a more expressive look; black for maximum versatility; green for a more distinctive diver style |
Because finishes, bracelets and availability are reference-specific, check the complete C048 reference number before ordering. Regional pricing, stock and delivery dates are not established here and can change by market.
C048 versus the older C032
| Area | Revised C048 | Earlier C032 reference cited |
|---|---|---|
| Bezel insert | Ceramic | Aluminium on C032.807.22.051.01 |
| Shock-resistance system | Enhanced DS Concept Extreme Shock Resistance | Earlier DS Concept specification; the cited sheet does not describe the enhanced system |
| Movement | Powermatic 80.611 with Nivachron | Powermatic 80.611 with Nivachron |
| Format | 38 mm compact diver format | 38 mm compact diver format |
| Bracelet features | Reference-dependent; selected bracelets have quick-release hardware | Steel/PVD bracelet with diver extension on the cited sheet |
| Price and availability | Not stated; varies by geography | Not stated; older stock and secondary-market prices vary |
The upgrade case is therefore about durability and protection, not a longer-running movement or a new case size. A discounted C032 can remain attractive if aluminium-bezel wear is acceptable; the C048 is the more logical choice when ceramic and the revised shock system matter more than the lowest purchase price.

Straps, bracelets and fit checks
Selected C048 bracelets use quick-release hardware, making bracelet-to-strap changes easier without specialist tools. A compatible NATO or replacement strap is a natural alternative, but the 19 mm lug spacing means a nominally similar 20 mm strap may not fit correctly. Confirm the exact reference, end-link shape, spring-bar diameter and clearance before buying; titanium and PVD versions may also require finish-matched hardware for a coherent appearance.

Who should buy the revised C048?
- Choose it if: you want a genuinely compact 300 m ISO-certified automatic diver, an 80-hour reserve, ceramic bezel durability and the latest stated DS shock-resistance system.
- Choose steel if: you want the easiest finish to pair with everyday clothing and replacement parts.
- Choose titanium if: reducing bracelet and case weight is a priority.
- Choose PVD if: the dark finish is central to the watch’s appeal and you accept that coatings can show wear differently from bare steel.
- Consider a C032 instead if: you find a substantially lower price and are comfortable with its aluminium bezel and earlier shock-system specification.
Buying checks before ordering
- Confirm that the listing is for a C048 reference, not an older C032, and verify the dial colour and case material.
- Check the seller’s authenticity, warranty coverage, return policy and local availability; these details vary by country.
- Verify bracelet sizing and whether the selected reference includes quick-release hardware.
- For a replacement strap, match the 19 mm lug spacing and check end-link and spring-bar compatibility.
- Inspect the crown, bezel action and seals at service intervals; a 300 m rating is not a substitute for maintenance.
