The Batavi Marina Chronograaf pairs a compact 38 mm steel case with a hand-wound Seagull ST1901 chronograph and four unusually vivid dial options. Its vintage yacht-timer look is the draw; manual winding, 50 m water resistance and uncertain availability are the practical trade-offs. Batavi’s official pages showed the models out of stock when checked, and the brand says the Marina will not return.
What is the Batavi Marina Chronograaf?
The Marina is a stainless-steel mechanical chronograph from Dutch brand Batavi, styled around vintage yacht timers. Its two-register layout puts small running seconds at 9 o’clock and a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, with central seconds for the chronograph. The watch uses a manually wound Seagull ST1901 movement.
That combination makes the Marina a design-led alternative to a conventional three-hand watch, but the chronograph is not an automatic or quartz movement: it needs to be wound by hand. Its compact footprint and colorful dials are central to its character.
How do the four dial versions differ?
Batavi offered four colorways. The dials use a layered sandwich construction, with a transparent upper layer over a colored base.

Color preference is subjective, and the available descriptions do not establish a measured legibility ranking among the variants. If choosing between examples in person or from seller photos, compare how clearly the hands and elapsed-time registers stand out against the specific dial.
Case, movement and everyday considerations
Compact dimensions and materials
The case measures 38 mm across, 46 mm lug to lug and 13.5 mm thick. It is stainless steel, with a domed sapphire crystal and sapphire display caseback. Batavi lists a 20 mm lug width; the standard bracelet is stainless steel. Fratello notes quick-release spring bars, bracelet articulation and tool-free clasp micro-adjustment as positive hands-on impressions, not independent durability tests.

Hand-wound ST1901 chronograph
The Seagull ST1901 is a column-wheel chronograph running at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and using 21 jewels. Batavi and Fratello report a 45-to-50-hour power-reserve range; Fratello says the variation depends on chronograph use. Monochrome lists 50 hours. These are published specifications, not a guarantee of a particular example’s performance.
Because it is hand-wound, the Marina requires winding rather than relying on wrist motion to replenish its power reserve. The two-register display is useful for elapsed timing, but it does not provide the additional register arrangement of some chronographs.

Water resistance
The stated rating is 50 m (5 ATM). That is a specification, not evidence of tested performance for a particular watch, and the available sources do not report water-use testing. Treat it accordingly: this is not a watch to select on the assumption that it has been proven for swimming or other water activity.
Is the Batavi Marina Chronograaf worth buying?
Its case dimensions, hand-wound chronograph movement and four distinct dial treatments make it appealing if you want a compact mechanical chronograph with a playful, vintage-inspired design. Fratello’s hands-on account specifically praises the proportions, colors, bracelet articulation and clasp adjustment; it also characterizes the specifications as basic and notes that the watch is not Swiss-made. Those are the publication’s assessments, rather than measured conclusions about quality or performance.

- Features: Calendar;Luminous Hands and Markers
- Silver-Tone Stainless Steel;Blue Leather and Black Silicone Strap
- An internal 60-minute timing ring features white accents and is operated with the crown at 10 o’clock.

The trade-off is a fairly specific proposition: the Marina’s appeal rests heavily on its design and manual chronograph experience, while its 50 m rating is modest and the sources do not establish long-term accuracy, durability or reliability rates. If you prefer automatic winding, need stronger substantiated water-use credentials, or prioritize proven long-term performance data, the available information does not settle those concerns in the Marina’s favor.

Batavi’s home page reproduces the brand’s statement: “After that the Marina Chronograaf is done, and she won’t return.” The page also describes a final limited Sunrise run. This is Batavi’s stated plan; it does not establish whether an independent or pre-owned seller has a watch available.
Historical launch-era pricing differs across publications and should not be mistaken for a current quote. Fratello cited €699 retail and €649 during the introduction period in its 2025-07-07 article. Monochrome reported €599 at launch, followed by €649 and €699 in its 2025 article. The sources therefore describe different reported price stages.
If you find a listing, assess the actual purchase rather than relying on an old advertised figure:
- Confirm the seller has the exact colorway in stock and can dispatch it.
- Compare the total delivered price, including shipping, taxes or import charges where applicable.
- Check the seller’s return terms and, for a pre-owned example, its condition and included accessories.
- For a replacement strap, verify the 20 mm lug width as well as end shape and hardware fit; the lug width alone does not guarantee compatibility.
The sources reviewed do not verify an active authorized secondary-retailer channel. No claims about current independent or pre-owned stock can be made from the official sold-out listings alone.
