Louis Erard’s Golden Edition of Le Régulateur Louis Erard x atelier oï pairs a 42mm polished steel case with a gold-toned, radially engraved dial and three blue hands arranged in a regulator display. Reference 85237AA56.BVA175 is limited to 18 pieces and is listed at CHF 3,750 excluding tax. The official listing currently shows a waiting list; availability can change.

What makes the Golden Edition distinctive?

The dial is the focal point: 60 engraved lines radiate across its gold-toned surface, catching light differently as the watch moves. Louis Erard describes the collaboration as a new interpretation of Le Régulateur, using shades of gold and blue. The earlier design brief, reproduced by the brand, was “To radiate from the centre outwards.” Louis Erard’s earlier atelier oï collaboration page explains that the asymmetrical rays create reflections and contrasts, while the hands bring time into the composition.

The official specification describes the dial as “Black Or” slate grey, with matte and polished finishes. That wording sits alongside the product description’s gold-and-blue palette; the overall effect is a golden-looking dial rather than a flat, uniform gold surface. Monochrome Watches describes it as sundial-inspired.

How to read the regulator dial

Unlike a conventional watch, which usually places the hour and minute hands together at the centre, this regulator separates the indications. The short blue hour hand is at 12, the central blue hand shows minutes, and the small-seconds hand is at 6. The 60 engraved divisions form the minute track, with every fifth line more pronounced, according to Monochrome Watches.

  • Hours: the small subdial at 12 o’clock.

  • Seconds: the small subdial at 6 o’clock.

All three are blue baton hands, giving the display a consistent visual link to the blue strap while keeping the separate readings legible.
