Design and proportions
At 38 mm wide, 37 mm long, and 11.18 mm thick, this reference has compact listed dimensions. Its black dial and brown leather strap give the watch a restrained, vintage-leaning look, while the PVD-coated stainless-steel case adds a more contemporary finish. Tissot lists the watch at 74 g.
The hands carry Super-LumiNova, and the date adds a practical everyday function. The strap has a quick-release system. Tissot lists compatible strap choices, but a third-party replacement should be checked for its quick-release end fitting as well as its 20 mm width.

Movement and everyday specifications
Tissot specifies an automatic Powermatic 80 movement with a stated 80-hour power reserve, date, and Nivachron balance spring. The reserve is a maker specification, not a measured result for an individual watch, and it does not tell you how accurately the watch keeps time. The reviewed sources do not establish an independent accuracy result or a universal accuracy tolerance for this reference.
The official product page lists 10 bar, or 100 m, water resistance, a sapphire crystal with an antireflective coating on the underside, and a see-through caseback. These are specifications, not evidence of hands-on water or scratch testing. Water resistance should not be treated as a dive rating or as permanent regardless of the watch’s condition.
How the PR516 name relates to the collection
Tissot’s pressroom describes the broader PR516 collection as “a reinterpretation of a highly appreciated model from 1970” with an updated vintage design. Its February 22, 2024 worldwide-availability announcement discusses mechanical and quartz chronographs; it does not establish the launch date of this three-hand Powermatic 80 reference.

Is the Tissot PR516 Powermatic 80 worth buying?
This reference is worth considering if you want a compact automatic with retro styling, a date, a leather strap, and strong listed everyday specifications. Its appeal is specific: the black-and-brown combination and 38 mm case, rather than a claim that it is the best watch in a broad category.
