What is the Ulysse Nardin Diver AIR?
The Diver AIR is a 44 mm luxury sports watch built around a skeletonized, self-winding manufacture movement and materials selected to reduce weight. Its official reference is 3743-170-2A/0A. The name appears as “Diver AIR” and “Diver [AIR]” in Ulysse Nardin’s materials.
Ulysse Nardin states a total weight of 52 g with a strap and less than 46 g without one. The latter figure is not the weight of a complete wrist-ready watch, so the 52 g figure is the more useful headline comparison for the supplied configuration. The manufacturer presents the model as the lightest mechanical dive watch, but the available published evidence does not establish an independent record or standardized comparison across the category.
How does it achieve such a low weight?
The construction combines lightweight metals and composite materials across the case, movement and bezel. Ulysse Nardin describes the middle case and movement as using titanium that is 90% recycled. The side parts are Nylo®-Foil, made from 60% Nylo® derived from recycled fishing nets and 40% upcycled carbon fibre. The bezel insert uses CarbonFoil made from upcycled carbon fibres sourced from IMOCA boats, while the escapement uses upcycled silicon.

The brand names TiFast and thyssenkrupp as titanium sources, Fil & Fab for the Nylo® source, CDK Technologies for carbon fibre, Lavoisier Composites for processing Nylo®-Foil and Sigatec for silicon wafers. Movement and specifications
The Diver AIR is powered by the self-winding UN-374 calibre, a 34 mm manufacture skeleton movement with 199 parts and 21 jewels. Ulysse Nardin specifies a 3 Hz frequency (21,600 vibrations per hour) and a 90-hour power reserve. Its listed functions are hours, minutes and seconds; the watch also has a unidirectional rotating bezel and silicon oscillator components.

Ulysse Nardin’s 2025 launch page gives weights for two earlier models alongside the Diver AIR. These are brand-published figures, not a standardized independent weighing comparison.

The listed mass is substantially lower for the AIR than for those two predecessors, but the figures alone do not show that the watches were weighed under identical conditions or with equivalent straps.
Is the Diver AIR small or thin?
No. The low weight should not be confused with small dimensions. The case is 44 mm in diameter, and Monochrome Watches reports a 14.7 mm thickness. That makes the AIR an imposing sports-watch format on paper despite its unusually low stated mass. Whether it suits a particular wrist depends on fit and personal preference; a try-on is especially useful for judging the diameter and thickness.

Straps, price and availability
Ulysse Nardin says two ultra-light fabric straps are included, each weighing less than 6 g. The official product page also lists compatibility with R-STRAP and rubber straps; the exact accessory references and availability should be confirmed with the brand or an authorized retailer.
The Watches & Wonders 2025 page listed a price of CHF 36,800. That is a dated event-page figure, not confirmation of today’s retail price, tax treatment or local availability. Who is the Diver AIR for?
The watch is most compelling for someone who wants a mechanical dive-style watch but prioritizes low on-wrist mass and is interested in an unusually material-intensive construction. Its 90-hour reserve, 200 m stated water resistance and familiar hours-minutes-seconds display keep it recognizably practical on paper, while the openworked movement makes the mechanism a visible part of the design.
