Choose a Fitbit such as Charge 6 if you want a slimmer fitness-first wearable, longer stated battery life, or iPhone compatibility. Choose Google Pixel Watch 5 if you want a fuller smartwatch with Google apps and built-in safety features—and have a compatible Android phone. “Fitbit” covers several different devices, so the comparison below focuses on Charge 6 and Versa 4 against Pixel Watch 5 rather than treating the brands as single models.
Fitbit or Pixel Watch: what is the real difference?
Charge 6 is a narrow fitness tracker; Versa 4 is a Fitbit watch. Pixel Watch 5 is a round smartwatch offered in 41mm and 45mm cases. Their overlap includes activity, heart-rate, and sleep tracking, but the product pages list different phone requirements, battery estimates, health features, and smartwatch functions. Google’s comparison also includes Fitbit Sense 2, Inspire 3, and Luxe, so confirm the exact model before applying any feature claim.

The specifications below are Google’s statements on its US comparison page, checked October 12, 2026. Battery figures are manufacturer estimates, not independently measured results. The page provides no further test conditions beyond the display and Battery Saver labels.
Which one works with your phone?
| Model | Listed phone requirement |
|---|---|
| Google Pixel Watch 5 | Android 12.0 or newer |
| Fitbit Charge 6 | Android 10.0 or newer, or iOS 14.0 or newer |
| Fitbit Versa 4 | Android 10.0 or newer, or iOS 14.0 or newer |
For an iPhone owner, the listed compatibility makes Charge 6 or Versa 4 the viable choice among these models. Pixel Watch 5 is listed for Android only. Check the current requirements for your specific phone and region before buying.

How does battery life compare?
| Device | Google’s stated battery life |
|---|---|
| Fitbit Charge 6 | Up to 7 days |
| Fitbit Versa 4 | 6 days |
| Pixel Watch 5, 41mm | Up to 30 hours with always-on display; up to 48 hours in Battery Saver mode |
| Pixel Watch 5, 45mm | Up to 40 hours with always-on display; up to 72 hours in Battery Saver mode |
Google’s listed estimates favor the Fitbit models if fewer charging interruptions matter most. Pixel Watch 5’s Battery Saver figures use a different operating mode from its always-on-display estimates, so they are not directly equivalent. Actual battery life can vary; the figures are not a guarantee.
What fitness and health features are listed?
Exercise tracking and GPS
Google lists 40+ exercise modes and built-in GPS for Charge 6, and 40+ exercise modes for Versa 4. Pixel Watch 5 lists 50+ exercise modes and dual-frequency GPS. Charge 6’s built-in GPS may appeal if you want a tracker with GPS listed as part of the device; the comparison does not establish relative GPS accuracy or performance.

Heart and health features
Both product families list heart-rate, sleep, and activity tracking, though the details vary by model. Google’s comparison lists ECG with atrial fibrillation (AFib) detection on Pixel Watch 5. For Charge 6, it lists irregular-rhythm notifications and high- or low-heart-rate notifications, but not ECG. Treat these as tracking or notification features, not as a diagnosis or proof that a condition is absent.

Pixel Watch 5 is the stronger fit if you want a general-purpose smartwatch: Google’s comparison lists Google apps, messaging, connectivity, and Emergency SOS, Fall Detection, Safety Check, and Loss of Pulse Detection. The Charge 6 comparison emphasizes fitness tracking and does not list those Pixel Watch safety functions. Absence from this comparison should not be taken as a claim about every Fitbit model.

Which form factor suits you?
Charge 6 has a slim tracker shape and measures 36.73 × 23.09 × 11.20 mm on Google’s comparison page. Pixel Watch 5 is a round watch in 41mm or 45mm case sizes. If you prefer a narrow band-like device, Charge 6 is the clearer match; if you want a conventional round watch display and the listed smartwatch functions, consider Pixel Watch 5. The published dimensions do not establish which device will feel more comfortable on your wrist.
