Fitbit’s redesigned device settings look more like Pixel Watch—here’s what changed

Fitbit redesigned its device-settings page with a Pixel Watch-inspired layout. Here’s what changed, where familiar controls moved, and why menus still vary by model.

Fitbit redesigned the device-settings page for its watches and trackers with a layout inspired by the Pixel Watch companion experience. The change mainly affects presentation and navigation: device status, syncing, watch faces, apps, tiles, and grouped settings are easier to find, but Fitbit devices have not become Pixel Watch or Wear OS devices.

The redesign was reported rolling out in June 2025. Google’s current support documentation often calls the companion experience the Google Health app, although some users and app versions may still see Fitbit branding.

What changed in Fitbit’s device page?

The redesigned page puts the wearable itself at the top rather than leading with a dense list of settings. The reported layout includes:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • A large preview of the connected watch or tracker
  • A preview of the current watch face, where supported
  • Connection status
  • Battery level
  • Last synchronization information
  • A prominent Sync now action
  • Cards for Watch faces, Apps, and Tiles
  • A grouped settings list below those cards

This is best understood as a navigation redesign, not a replacement of Fitbit’s underlying device controls. Tapping the cards generally takes users to familiar management screens, while the reorganized page makes the most-used destinations more visible.

  • 【Working Time】: Smart Fitness Watch is the best partner at work, you can set it on the mobile APP ‘Runmefit’: up to 5 sets of alarms, you don’t have to worry about being late for appointments or forgetting important things. You can set drinking Water Reminders and Sedentary Reminders to establish a healthy way of working.

The original report from 9to5Google used a Fitbit Sense 2 as its detailed example and described a similar approach for trackers.

Why does it resemble Pixel Watch?

The upper part of the page follows a pattern associated with the Pixel Watch companion experience: show the device first, surface its status next, and then present common management options as cards.

That gives Google’s wearable products a more consistent visual language. It does not mean that Fitbit watches now run Wear OS, or that Fitbit owners receive every Pixel Watch setting and capability. Fitbit OS watches, Fitbit trackers, and Pixel Watch remain different product families with different hardware and feature support.

Which devices are covered?

The redesign was reported for Fitbit OS-powered watches and trackers, but the exact menus vary by model. Relevant families include:

Device family What to expect
Fitbit Sense and Sense 2 Watch-oriented controls, including apps, watch faces, notifications, and device preferences. The Sense 2 was the detailed example in the original redesign report.
Fitbit Versa series, including Versa 4 A smartwatch-style device page with model-specific apps, watch faces, and tile controls.
Fitbit Charge trackers, including Charge 6 A tracker-focused interface with fewer smartwatch controls. Charge 6 supports Fitbit health tracking, notifications, Google Wallet, and Google Health synchronization.
Fitbit Inspire and Luxe Tracker-specific controls and availability; they should not be expected to mirror a Sense or Versa menu exactly.
Google Pixel Watch The related reference experience, but not a Fitbit OS device. Its controls and capabilities differ from Fitbit hardware.

Google’s device-support documentation lists Fitbit and Pixel Watch products in the wider Google Health ecosystem, while official help pages make clear that available features depend on the model.

What settings appear in the redesigned list?

On the reported Sense 2 example, the lower settings list was grouped into categories such as:

  • Notifications: calls, texts, and app notifications
  • Device preferences: wrist preference and device lock
  • Google: Google Wallet and Google Maps
  • Fitbit reminders & alerts: move reminders, goal celebrations, and high- or low-heart-rate alerts
  • Tips & support: tutorial, device guide, and help
  • System: software updates and disconnect
  • Smart features: Amazon Alexa and on-wrist calls

These are a Sense 2 example, not a universal menu map. A Charge 6, Versa 4, Inspire, Luxe, or Pixel Watch can show different categories or omit controls that its hardware does not support.

Where to find common controls now

Google’s current instructions use the name Google Health app. Depending on your app version, account migration state, and platform, you may still see Fitbit branding or slightly different labels.

Manage apps and watch faces

  1. Open the Google Health app with the Fitbit device nearby.
  2. Tap Connections at the top left.
  3. Select the device.
  4. Open the Apps tab or the Watch faces section.
  5. Select an app or watch face.
  6. Choose Settings or Permissions where available.
  7. Use the back arrow when finished.

The exact app and watch-face catalogue is device-specific. Google notes that some apps and clock faces are unavailable on particular models, and certain older watches may require Wi-Fi for larger downloads or updates. See Google’s official app and watch-face instructions.

Manage tiles

For supported devices such as Sense 2 and Versa 4:

  1. Open Google Health.
  2. Tap Connections.
  3. Select the device.
  4. Open Gallery.
  5. Under My Tiles, tap Manage.
  6. Hold the grid icon and move a tile to reorder it.

Google documents this path in its tile-management help. A tracker without tile support will not show the same controls.

Manually sync the device

The 2025 redesign report placed Sync now at the top right of the device page. Current official help documents a more general route:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open Google Health with the device nearby.
  2. Tap Connections at the top left.
  3. Tap Sync.

Fitbit devices normally sync automatically throughout the day when they are nearby and the app is opened. The button’s wording or location can change between app versions, so do not assume that every user will see Sync now in precisely the same place. See Google’s syncing instructions.

  • 【1.1" AMOLED Touch Color Screen】AMOLED HD touch color screen is designed with clear and bright display, providing you with high quality touch and visual experience. This smartwatch includes a large number of original dials and supports custom dials.

Find notifications, preferences, and updates

Open Connections, select the wearable, and look through the grouped device settings. On the Sense 2 example, notifications, device preferences, system updates, and smart features were separate categories. Phone-level permissions still matter: a setting on the wearable page cannot override disabled Bluetooth, notification, location, or calendar access on the phone.

What the redesign does not change

The new layout does not automatically add Pixel Watch capabilities to Fitbit hardware. Support for apps, clock faces, tiles, GPS, Google Wallet, Alexa, calls, notifications, and other features remains model-dependent.

GPS is a useful example. Google’s capability documentation distinguishes among devices such as Charge 6, Sense 2, Versa 4, and Pixel Watch. Depending on the model and configuration, GPS may be built in, connected through the phone, or dynamically selected. Pixel Watch models have their own hardware and Wear OS support matrix; they should not be used as a feature checklist for Fitbit devices. Consult Google’s device-capability documentation before assuming that a relocated menu means a feature is supported.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The redesign also does not move every Fitbit setting onto the device page. Account settings, health and wellness preferences, goals, phone permissions, and wearable-side settings may remain in separate areas.

Fitbit app or Google Health app?

Older coverage and many user instructions refer to the Fitbit app. Google’s current support pages use Google Health app terminology for Fitbit-device setup, management, and synchronization. That does not guarantee that every phone, account, or app version displays identical branding.

If you cannot find an app called Google Health, look for the installed Fitbit companion app and check that it is updated. Conversely, if an instruction tells you to open Fitbit but your current app says Google Health, the device-management flow may still be the same: open Connections and select the wearable.

If the redesigned page is missing or a setting seems gone

  1. Check the app name and account. Confirm that you are signed into the Google or Fitbit account associated with the wearable.
  2. Choose the correct device. Open Connections and select the specific watch or tracker.
  3. Bring the device nearby and sync it. Use Connections → Sync in the current documented interface.
  4. Update the companion app. A staged rollout or older app version can account for different layouts.
  5. Review phone permissions. Check Bluetooth, notifications, location, and calendar access where relevant.
  6. Restart the phone and wearable. Then reopen the device page.
  7. Check the relevant sections. Look under Apps, Watch faces, Gallery, and the grouped device settings rather than assuming the control was removed.
  8. Verify model support. A missing tile, app, GPS option, or Google service may reflect a hardware limitation rather than a software fault.

Avoid clearing app data or unpairing the device as a first response. Those steps are more disruptive and are better reserved for persistent pairing or synchronization failures after ordinary updates, permission checks, and restarts.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does the redesign justify buying a new Fitbit?

Not by itself. The change improves orientation and navigation, but it is primarily a software presentation update.

  • Choose Charge 6 if you want a compact tracker with Fitbit health features and Google Health synchronization.
  • Choose Sense 2 or Versa 4 if you prefer a Fitbit smartwatch form factor and its device-specific interface.
  • Choose Pixel Watch if your priority is a fuller Google smartwatch experience and Wear OS integration rather than a tracker-first Fitbit design.

Current prices, availability, warranty terms, and Fitbit Premium pricing vary by region and are not necessary to understand the redesign. The right choice depends more on battery expectations, smartwatch features, GPS, apps, and health-tracking needs than on the new device page alone.

Bottom line

Fitbit’s device-settings redesign makes its watches and trackers look more at home alongside Pixel Watch products: device status is prominent, and watch faces, apps, tiles, and syncing are easier to reach. The practical rule is simple: if a familiar control appears to have disappeared, first check the new cards, the reorganized categories, the selected device, and model compatibility. In most cases, the evidence points to a setting being relocated—not removed.
