Formex unveiled two Space Rock watches in December 2022: a 39mm stainless-steel Essence ThirtyNine and a 41mm carbon-fiber-composite Essence Leggera FortyOne. Both were announced with Muonionalusta meteorite dials, COSC-certified Sellita SW200-1 movements and limited runs of 88 watches. Their launch prices and preorder dates are historical; the sources available do not establish whether either reference is currently for sale.

What distinguishes the 39mm and 41mm versions?
Essence ThirtyNine: steel and a smaller diameter
The 39mm version pairs a stainless-steel case with the meteorite dial. At launch it was offered on a strap or bracelet; the bracelet included a hidden micro-extension for fine adjustment. Its reported height was 10mm.
Essence Leggera FortyOne: composite and ceramic construction
The 41mm Leggera is the larger option, with a carbon-fiber-composite case and ceramic components. Its reported launch height was 11mm. The material choice is the main construction difference; the available launch report does not give a measured weight comparison, so it does not support a precise claim about how much lighter it is than the steel model.

Shared movement and meteorite dial
Both watches were reported with the Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, COSC certification, a 41-hour power reserve and 100m water resistance. Their dials use Muonionalusta meteorite. The specific pattern varies between dials; Monochrome Watches writer Denis Peshkov observed that “The different patterns of the extraterrestrial meteorite dials make each of these Formex timepieces unique.”
Launch timing, limited editions and original prices
Monochrome Watches reported that each model was limited to 88 pieces and that preorders were open when its story appeared on December 14, 2022. Delivery was then expected at the end of January 2023. These are launch-era details, not confirmation of present availability.

Current availability for either exact Space Rock reference is not established by the sources cited here. Formex’s current Leggera collection page provides present collection context, while its Space Glacier 41mm Leggera page describes a related meteorite-dial watch. Space Glacier is a different named variant, not proof that the 2022 Space Rock edition remains in production or in stock. Check the reference name and current stock directly with Formex or a retailer before buying.
