The Fortis Flieger F-41 Midnight Blue on Block Bracelet pairs a 41 mm pilot-style watch with Fortis’s substantial steel bracelet. In his February 13, 2022 hands-on review, Rob Nudds found the bracelet added welcome heft without making the watch too heavy for him, though he thought the case might feel large on his wrist. Those are one reviewer’s fit impressions, not a universal verdict. The specific Midnight Blue configuration is distinct from the F-41 colorways Fortis currently lists, so verify the reference and dial before buying.
Which watch is this?
This review concerns the Fortis Flieger F-41 Midnight Blue on Block Bracelet, the configuration covered by Rob Nudds’s Fratello hands-on review. Launch-era coverage identifies its reference as F422.0013; confirm that reference against the watch’s paperwork or the seller’s listing because current Fortis listings show other F-41 colors.
Midnight Blue is not another name for Liberty Blue, nor should it be confused with the separate F-39 Midnight Blue. Fortis’s current collection page lists F-39 and F-41 watches in current configurations, while its current F-41 product page describes the Original dial rather than the Midnight Blue reviewed here.
What the hands-on review says about wearing it
Nudds says he would choose the F-39 on a bracelet. His impression of the F-41 bracelet was that it “adds a welcome heft to proceedings but doesn’t make the watch too heavy for me.” He also writes that the 41 mm case “might be a bit of a stretch for my puny child wrists.” Both comments describe his own experience; wrist shape, fit preference and tolerance for a heavier bracelet vary.
#1 Best Overall
- Classic handmade watch, 40 mm solid brass casing with stainless steel back
- Classic American pine wood presentation / keepsake pillowed box
- Croc print vegan leather bracelet with matching brass buckle
- Original parchment art on metal, vivid colors
- Limited Edition Original Art. Great Investment Potential for Watch Collectors.
The review also notes a 21 mm strap width across the collection. Treat that as the reviewer’s compatibility observation, not a guarantee that any third-party strap or bracelet will fit this particular watch. Check the exact model and attachment system before ordering accessories.
What the current F-41 specifications tell you—and what they do not
Fortis’s current F-41 Original on Block Bracelet product page gives a useful reference point for the current platform. These are the Original configuration’s published specifications, not independently confirmed specifications for the 2022 Midnight Blue watch:
Rank #2
- Men's luxury timepieces with technical advancements and a sporty style
- 3 Hand, Date
- Silver-Tone Stainless Steel
- Spherical Mineral Crystal
- 100 Meters Water Resistant and 5 Year Limited Warranty
- Case: 41 mm recycled stainless steel, 52 mm lug-to-lug and 12.5 mm thick.
- Water resistance: 200 m / 20 atm.
- Bezel: Bidirectional 12-hour bezel with half-hour increments.
- Crystal: Sapphire with anti-reflective coating on both sides.
- Movement and display: Automatic UW-30 movement, date and a stated 38-hour power reserve.
- Bracelet: Block Bracelet with integrated microadjustment and Fortis’s Screw Pin System.
Fortis describes the current Block Bracelet clasp as a stainless-steel slide clasp with microadjustment. Its collection and product pages describe the Screw Pin System as part of the bracelet-and-strap attachment system. These details help explain the current bracelet setup, but the Original page should not be used to assume every detail of a different dial configuration without checking its documentation.
F-39 or F-41, bracelet or strap?
Choose between the F-39 and F-41 by fit first
The clearest distinction in this comparison is case size: the subject here is the 41 mm F-41, while the historical F-39 Midnight Blue is a 39 mm model. Fortis Japan identifies that F-39 variant as reference F4220011, with a leather strap, and marks it discontinued. That is historical context for the F-39—not evidence about the availability of the F-41 Midnight Blue. If the F-41’s wrist presence concerns you, try it on or compare its lug-to-lug span with a watch you already find comfortable; the current Original page lists 52 mm, but that measurement is not confirmed here specifically for the Midnight Blue configuration.

Choose bracelet or strap by feel and configuration
The Block Bracelet is the choice if you want the steel-bracelet feel and the heft Nudds welcomed. A strap is the alternative to consider if you prefer less bracelet mass or want the look of the historical F-39 Midnight Blue, which Fortis Japan lists on leather. The review does not establish a universal comfort advantage for either option.
Check the exact color and reference before purchase
Fortis’s current Flieger collection shows current F-39 and F-41 configurations, including F-41 Liberty Blue and Original variants. At the time the collection page was checked in 2026, it displayed CHF 2,650 for the F-41 Liberty Blue on Block Bracelet. That is a changeable listing price for Liberty Blue, not a price for the older Midnight Blue model. Present-day stock of the F-41 Midnight Blue on bracelet is not established by the current listings, so ask the seller to confirm the dial, bracelet and reference F422.0013.

Fortis’s pilot-watch positioning
On its current Flieger page, Fortis describes Synchroline with the statement: “Within a ±5 second range the pilot can now adjust to his teammates.” This is Fortis’s brand description of the feature, not a named individual’s quotation or an independent performance assessment.
