The companies said it would bring them together around sports competitions and product development; their first announced product was the TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph. In the launch announcement, TAG Heuer CEO Frédéric Arnault framed the alliance around shared history, values and a pursuit of high performance.
Why did TAG Heuer partner with Porsche?
The companies presented the 2021 partnership as more than a one-off co-branded watch. Porsche described it as “holistic and long-term,” with plans to work together on sports competitions as well as products. The Carrera Porsche Chronograph was the first result they announced. Porsche’s announcement, 4 February 2021, set out that scope.
Arnault’s rationale was that the brands shared a relationship and outlook that made an official alliance timely. He said: “With this alliance TAG Heuer and Porsche finally come together officially after decades of close encounters.” That was his launch-era explanation in TAG Heuer’s feature published the same day.
What did Frédéric Arnault say about the partnership?
In Porsche’s 4 February 2021 announcement, Arnault, then CEO of TAG Heuer, said: “TAG Heuer and Porsche have common history and values, of course, but more importantly, we share an attitude. Like Porsche, we are disruptors at heart, always in pursuit of high performance.” The comments describe the companies’ own view of the alliance, not an independent assessment of its results.

Arnault’s role should be understood in that dated context. Porsche’s 2022 profile says he took over TAG Heuer’s management in July 2020; the historical material cited here does not establish his current position in 2026. Porsche’s 2022 profile provides that leadership background.
Why was Carrera a natural first watch?
“Carrera” connected the two companies through a shared origin story. TAG Heuer’s account traces both its Carrera chronograph and Porsche’s Carrera model name to the Carrera Panamericana, a demanding Mexican road race held in the 1950s. The brands also recount earlier intersections: Porsche racer and dealer Jo Siffert wore a Heuer logo on his racing suit, and the 1971 film Le Mans associated the Porsche 917 with the Heuer Monaco. These are the companies’ own historical account of the connection, rather than an independent history of the race or the brands. TAG Heuer’s launch feature describes those links.

What was the TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph?
The inaugural watch translated Porsche design cues into a TAG Heuer Carrera chronograph. Porsche’s launch announcement highlighted the following details:
- A Porsche inscription on the bezel and Porsche colors.
- A dial with a specially made asphalt effect and Arabic numerals recalling sports-car dashboards.
- An oscillating mass redesigned as a tribute to a Porsche steering wheel.
- A choice of calf-leather strap or interlocking bracelet.
- TAG Heuer’s in-house Calibre Heuer 02 movement, with an 80-hour power reserve as stated by Porsche in the 2021 announcement.
The product’s design and specification are documented in Porsche’s 2021 release. That announcement identifies the model and its features; it does not establish a current price, stock level or regional availability.

Did the partnership extend beyond the first watch?
Yes, the companies’ stated ambition included competition activity as well as product development. TAG Heuer’s 2021 feature named the Porsche GT Team World Endurance Championship, Porsche Carrera Cups, Porsche Esports Supercup and Porsche Classic races as partnership activities. Those were launch-era plans and examples, not confirmation of a current event calendar.
Later product examples indicate that the collaboration continued beyond the original mechanical chronograph. In a 2024 retrospective, TAG Heuer cited the Connected Calibre E4 Porsche Edition and Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963. The examples span a connected watch and a Carrera chronograph, but the retrospective does not establish present-day retail availability. TAG Heuer’s 15 July 2024 retrospective names those later releases.
