Introduced at Baselworld in 2017, the Frederique Constant Flyback Chronograph Manufacture brought the brand’s first in-house chronograph to its classically styled collection. Its FC-760 automatic movement uses a modular flyback mechanism and a star-shaped wheel; the launch review listed a starting price of €3,695 in 2017, not a current price.
Why the FC-760 mattered to Frederique Constant
The Flyback Chronograph Manufacture marked Frederique Constant’s first in-house chronograph. The brand’s history records the watch’s launch in 2017, the same year it was introduced at Baselworld. Its importance was not simply the addition of a stopwatch function: the watch brought a more technically involved complication into the brand’s traditional-looking Manufacture line.
The contemporaneous Monochrome Watches launch review describes the FC-760 as a modular movement built on the brand’s automatic base calibre with a dedicated flyback module. Frederique Constant’s brand history likewise identifies the star-shaped wheel as part of the calibre’s design.
What a flyback chronograph does
A chronograph measures elapsed time independently of the watch’s ordinary timekeeping. With a conventional stop-reset-restart sequence, the wearer stops the chronograph, resets its hands, then starts it again to time another interval. A flyback combines the last two actions: one push resets the chronograph hand and immediately starts a new timing interval.

That makes the feature useful when timing successive events, such as consecutive laps, without pausing to operate separate controls for each interval. It does not change what the chronograph measures; it changes how quickly the wearer can begin timing the next interval.
How the Frederique Constant FC-760 works
Modular construction
The FC-760 adds the flyback mechanism as a module to an automatic base movement. Monochrome’s 2017 review reports 233 components in the movement, including 96 in the flyback module. Frederique Constant’s launch material gives the same counts; these are manufacturer-reported figures rather than counts from an independent teardown.

Star-shaped wheel, not a standard column wheel
The FC-760 uses a star-shaped wheel as a control element instead of a standard column wheel. Frederique Constant’s history describes that distinction, while the launch review discusses the wheel as part of the calibre’s operation. It is therefore inaccurate to describe this watch as a conventional column-wheel chronograph.
Launch-era specifications
The following figures are the launch review’s reported specifications. They describe the watch as covered in 2017; dial, case and strap details can vary by reference or configuration.

Case and dial variations
Launch coverage describes stainless-steel and rose-gold-plated steel cases, with different dial treatments. These include classical designs with Roman numerals and Breguet-style hands, as well as more contemporary applied markers. When comparing examples, confirm the specific reference and assess the case finish and dial style together; the available launch information does not establish that every configuration shares identical details.
Launch price and current availability
Monochrome’s 2017 launch review listed a starting price of €3,695. Frederique Constant’s launch material, issued via Lulop on 23 March 2017, also reports launch pricing. That figure is historical; it should not be treated as a current retail quote or a resale valuation. Current production, stock, authorized sellers and present-day market prices are not established by these launch sources.
