The Frederique Constant Slimline Monolithic Manufacture pairs a traditional-looking dress-watch design with an unusual regulator: a flexible, one-piece silicon oscillator that runs at 40 Hz. The FC-810 is an automatic manufacture calibre with a stated 80-hour power reserve. The available sources establish its design and specifications, but not a hands-on assessment or an independently measured accuracy result.
What is the Slimline Monolithic Manufacture?
It is a Frederique Constant automatic watch built around the FC-810 calibre and its monolithic silicon oscillator. The 40 Hz frequency is the oscillator’s rate—not a claim that the watch is proven to keep time more accurately in everyday use. The brand equates 40 Hz with 288,000 vibrations per hour; for comparison, it gives 28,800 vibrations per hour as a rate found in many traditional mechanical movements. Frederique Constant’s product information and its 2021 consumer brochure document the model and frequency.
How does the 40 Hz silicon oscillator work?
A mechanical watch draws energy from its mainspring, sends it through a gear train, and meters its release through an escapement governed by an oscillator. In a conventional movement, a balance wheel and hairspring perform that regulating role. The FC-810 instead uses a compact silicon structure whose flexures bend and spring back as it oscillates.
Frederique Constant says the single silicon component replaces 26 standard assortment components and incorporates the anchor into its flexible structure. Two weights on the component allow a watchmaker to adjust the rate. The manufacturer credits Flexous with helping develop the flexible oscillator, in a collaboration initiated by Peter Stas and Dr Nima Tolou.

A 2021 engineering article in Mikroniek describes the oscillator as 9.8 mm in diameter and 0.3 mm thick, with a 6-degree amplitude. It also explains that the FC-810 gear train was altered to accommodate the regulator’s higher frequency. Frederique Constant describes the compact dimensions this way: “The new topology of the flexures and masses has permitted the creation of an unprecedented compact size for a flexure pivot oscillator (9.8mm in diameter and 0.3mm in thickness).” These are manufacturer and engineering-article descriptions, not independent performance measurements. Read the Mikroniek engineering article.
Does 40 Hz make the watch more accurate?
Not by itself, based on the available evidence. A higher oscillator frequency is a defining technical feature, but it does not establish a particular real-world accuracy result. No independent accuracy test or measured daily rate is documented here, so the 40 Hz figure should be read as a movement specification rather than a guarantee of superior timekeeping.

- Round watch with slender stick hour markers featuring logo under 12 o'clock, fluted crown, and moon phase window
- 42 mm rose gold-plated stainless steel case with antireflective-sapphire dial window
- Swiss automatic movement with analog display
- Croco-embossed leather band with buckle closure
- Water resistant to 30 m (99 ft): In general, withstands splashes or brief immersion in water, but not suitable for swimming.
The sources do establish the manufacturer’s stated 80-hour power reserve. They do not supply a test protocol or independent verification for that figure. For context on the oscillator concept and launch, Jack Forster’s Hodinkee technical overview describes it as a flexible, one-piece silicon component rather than a conventional balance and hairspring.
What does the watch look like?
The mechanism sits inside a classically styled 40 mm round case. The dial combines Roman numerals and Breguet-style hands with two functional openings: a pointer date at 12 o’clock and a view of the oscillator at 6. An exhibition caseback reveals the movement from the reverse. The contrast is deliberate: a restrained dress-watch face frames a conspicuously modern regulator.

Which FC-810 references were documented?
Frederique Constant’s 2021 brochure lists three limited editions. The edition counts and strap descriptions below are historical brochure specifications, not confirmation that any reference remains available.
| Reference | Case and strap | Edition size |
|---|---|---|
| FC-810MC3S6 | Steel case; black alligator strap | 810 pieces |
