The Furlan Marri Red Hunter is a 36 mm automatic wristwatch introduced in 2025 for the brand’s fourth anniversary. Its defining feature is a polished hinged caseback lid: open it to see a sapphire display back and the decorated La Joux-Perret movement. A compact steel case, black stepped lacquer dial, and launch package of a bracelet plus two leather straps round out the proposition.
What makes the Red Hunter different?
The Red Hunter is a time-only automatic watch, not one of Furlan Marri’s better-known mechaquartz chronographs. Its name points to the hunter-style case: a hinged protective lid traditionally associated with pocket watches. On this wristwatch, the lid is on the back rather than covering the dial. Opening it reveals a sapphire display crystal and the movement beneath.
Hodinkee identified the Red Hunter as the brand’s first 36 mm watch and highlighted its “officer’s caseback” as the unusual feature. That description appeared in Hodinkee’s April 18, 2025 article dek, not as a statement from Furlan Marri. Hodinkee’s launch coverage and Monochrome Watches’ specifications describe the anniversary model and its hinged back.

The dimensions and specifications above were reported in 2025 launch coverage by Hodinkee, Time+Tide and Monochrome Watches. The small lug-to-lug variation is rounding: Time+Tide gives 43.9 mm, while other coverage rounds it to 44 mm.

How the case and dial wear on paper
A 36 mm diameter and roughly 44 mm lug-to-lug make the Red Hunter compact by contemporary wristwatch standards, while its 11.6 mm thickness includes the distinctive rear construction. Those numbers can help narrow a fit decision, but they cannot guarantee how the watch will sit on an individual wrist; wrist shape, strap or bracelet fit, and personal preference matter.
The black lacquer dial is built in stepped layers, with a cream minute track and markings for contrast. Applied Roman numerals mark the cardinal positions, while the polished domed hands and central red seconds hand add visual detail. Hodinkee reports that the dial has no lume, so buyers who rely on luminous hands or markers for reading time in the dark should factor that in.

Movement and what the reserve means
The Red Hunter uses the automatic La Joux-Perret G100, with a reported 68-hour power reserve. That reserve is the stated running time when fully wound, not an accuracy or durability rating. Launch reports describe an engraved tungsten rotor with a rose-gold-colored 4N coating, Geneva stripes, snailing and blued screws. These are published movement and finishing details, not independent test results.
Bracelet, straps and fit
Launch coverage lists a stainless-steel bracelet and two French leather straps: black with red stitching and cream. Time+Tide reports a 20 mm lug width and quick-release spring bars on the supplied straps. That width may help when looking for alternatives, but check spring-bar type, strap length and buckle or clasp compatibility before buying a replacement; no third-party strap is established here as official or tested.

Red Hunter launch price and availability
The reported preorder period ran from April 23 through May 4, 2025. Hodinkee and Monochrome reported launch prices of USD 1,830 before tax and CHF 1,650 before tax; Time+Tide reported £1,850 and A$3,490.
