Casio says a screwless, multi-component case and bezel structure is designed to protect the brittle material while retaining G-SHOCK shock resistance. Announced regional allocations and prices differ, and the U.S. interest-registration campaign does not guarantee a chance to buy.
What makes the MRG-D5000 Blue Sapphire different?
Casio announced the MRG-D5000 on October 1, 2026, describing it as the first G-SHOCK to achieve a shock-resistant structure using blue-sapphire-crystal components. The bezel is entirely blue sapphire crystal, rather than a conventional metal bezel decorated with a few sapphire accents. Casio also describes sapphire components as difficult to process and vulnerable to cracking around stress points.

To address that challenge, Casio says its Multi-Guard Structure divides the case and bezel into multiple components assembled without screws that could create cracking points. The company says it analyzed the forces transmitted to sapphire during impact and designed the structure to protect the material. Those are manufacturer engineering claims; the published materials do not provide independent impact-test results. Casio’s global product page and its U.S. Blue Rose campaign page describe the construction.
The U.S. campaign compares the case-and-bezel assembly to kigumi, a traditional Japanese timber-frame construction method. It also says the dial lettering includes pure 24k gold, while the dial’s brick pattern refers to the original G-SHOCK motif. These details add to the design story, but the central distinction remains the sapphire bezel and the structure developed around it.

No. The U.S. Blue Rose campaign invites people to register interest, but Casio says availability, eligibility, the selection process, and the purchase window are subject to final official terms.
