Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2025 announcements covered three foldables and three smartwatch products. The Galaxy Z Fold7 led the phone lineup with an 8-inch internal display and a 200MP camera, while the Galaxy Z Flip7 added a larger 4.1-inch cover screen and the Flip7 FE offered a lower-cost alternative. For wearables, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Watch8 and Watch8 Classic, and refreshed the Galaxy Watch Ultra with a Titanium Blue finish.

The event took place in Brooklyn on July 9, 2025, and products including the Fold7, Flip7, Watch8, and Watch8 Classic were scheduled to go on sale July 25. This guide separates Samsung’s stated specifications and launch claims from conclusions that would require independent testing.

Samsung’s July 9, 2025, Galaxy Unpacked event in Brooklyn introduced three foldable phones—the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, and lower-priced Galaxy Z Flip7 FE—alongside the Galaxy Watch8, Galaxy Watch8 Classic, and an updated Galaxy Watch Ultra. The common thread was Samsung’s combination of thinner hardware, expanded health tracking, and AI built into the phone and watch experience rather than presented as a collection of separate tools.

Samsung’s global announcement said the Fold7, Flip7, Watch8, and Watch8 Classic would launch in 49 markets on July 25 before expanding to more than 110 markets. In the United States, Samsung listed Samsung.com, Samsung Experience Stores, carriers, and retail stores as sales channels. Prices above are U.S. launch MSRPs before trade-in credits or temporary promotions; storage, colors, LTE versions, and availability can differ by market.

Galaxy Z Fold7: Samsung’s productivity flagship

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 was the headline phone of the event and the clearest choice for buyers who want a foldable to function as a small tablet as well as a phone. Its internal display opens to 8 inches with QXGA+ resolution and Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology. The cover display measures 6.5 inches and supports a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.

Samsung emphasized the Fold7’s redesign as much as its screen. It weighs 215 grams, measures 8.9mm when folded, and measures 4.2mm when unfolded, excluding the main-display frame. Those are Samsung’s published measurements, not an independent assessment of comfort or durability, but they explain the company’s “thinnest and lightest Z Fold” positioning.

Fold7 camera and performance hardware

  • Rear cameras: 200MP wide, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom.
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy.
  • Battery: 4,400mAh typical capacity.
  • Storage: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB configurations are listed by Samsung, although market and carrier availability varies.
  • Memory: The 1TB version is paired with 16GB of memory in markets where that configuration is offered.
  • U.S. colors: Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Jetblack, and online-exclusive Mint.

The 200MP wide camera is the first 200MP camera in Samsung’s Z Fold line. Samsung also credits its ProVisual Engine and AI image processing with improving image handling. That reports what Samsung announced; it should not be read as an independent conclusion about camera quality, low-light performance, or image reliability.

For readers ready to compare listings, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 started at $1,999.99 in the U.S. at launch. Samsung promoted trade-in savings of up to $1,000 during the launch period, but that was a time-limited offer and should not be treated as a current discount without checking the live terms.

Why choose the Fold7?

Choose the Fold7 if your priorities are the largest display, side-by-side apps, document work, a high-resolution main camera, and the maximum hardware tier in Samsung’s 2025 foldable range. Its trade-offs are equally clear: it is the most expensive phone in the group, remains heavier than a conventional smartphone, and its large internal display makes protection and accessory compatibility especially important.

Galaxy Z Flip7: the compact foldable gets a larger cover screen

The Galaxy Z Flip7 is designed for people who want a phone that becomes substantially smaller when closed. Its 6.9-inch internal Dynamic AMOLED 2X display is joined by a redesigned 4.1-inch FlexWindow that extends almost edge to edge around the cameras.

Samsung lists up to 2,600 nits of brightness and a 120Hz refresh rate for both displays in its first-look materials. The phone is 6.5mm thick unfolded, 13.7mm folded, and weighs 188 grams. It uses an Armor Aluminum frame and a reinforced Armor FlexHinge.

Flip7 specifications and new features

  • Battery: 4,300mAh, the largest battery Samsung had put in a Z Flip at launch.
  • Samsung’s battery claim: Up to 31 hours of video playback under Samsung’s stated test conditions. This is not an independently measured battery result.
  • Cameras: 50MP wide and 12MP ultrawide.
  • Storage: 256GB or 512GB.
  • Colors: Jetblack, Blue Shadow, Coralred, and online-exclusive Mint in the U.S.
  • U.S. launch price: $1,099.99.

The larger FlexWindow is central to the Flip7’s appeal. Samsung demonstrated schedule information through Now Brief and camera-assisted Gemini Live interactions without requiring users to open the phone. Samsung also described the Flip7 as the first Galaxy Z-series device to support Samsung DeX, giving it a productivity feature previously associated with Samsung’s larger phones and tablets.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 makes the most sense for buyers who value pocketability but still want a large screen when the phone is open. It is the better fit than the Fold7 for one-handed outer-screen tasks and compact storage, while the Fold7 remains the more suitable option for serious multitasking and tablet-like work.

Galaxy Z Flip7 FE: the cheaper entry point

The Galaxy Z Flip7 FE brings Samsung’s vertical foldable design to a lower launch price of $899.99 in the United States. It has a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X internal display and a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED cover display.

  • Processor: Exynos 2400.
  • Cameras: 50MP wide and 12MP ultrawide.
  • Storage: 128GB or 256GB.
  • Memory: 8GB.
  • Colors: Black or White in the U.S.
  • U.S. launch price: $899.99.

The FE is not simply the standard Flip7 with a different name. Its smaller 3.4-inch cover display, Exynos 2400 processor, and 8GB memory ceiling are meaningful hardware differences. The standard Flip7 offers a larger cover-screen experience and a newer performance platform, while the FE’s justification is its lower entry price.

Choose the Flip7 FE if the folding form factor matters more than having the newest processor, the largest outer display, or the highest configuration. Buyers should compare the actual price gap at the time of purchase, because a temporary promotion on the standard Flip7 could narrow the difference.

Galaxy Watch8: the main smartwatch announcement

For WatchRanker readers, the Galaxy Watch8 is the most important announcement from the event. Samsung positioned it as a slimmer, health- and wellness-focused smartwatch with more continuous tracking, improved GPS, and new coaching and sleep-related features.

The standard Galaxy Watch8 comes in 40mm and 44mm sizes, with Graphite or Silver finishes. Samsung introduced a slimmer cushion-style design influenced by the Galaxy Watch Ultra and added a Dynamic Lug System. The company also described the Watch8 as its thinnest and most comfortable Galaxy Watch for continuous tracking. “Most comfortable” is Samsung’s positioning claim, not an independently verified wearability result.

Watch8 hardware and software

  • Processor: 3-nanometer processor.
  • Location tracking: Dual-frequency GPS.
  • Health sensor: Updated BioActive Sensor.
  • Software: Wear OS 6 and One UI 8 Watch.
  • Assistant: Samsung described it as the first smartwatch it shipped with Google Gemini out of the box.
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth and LTE variants are listed for both the 40mm and 44mm models in the U.S.
  • U.S. launch prices: $349.99 for Bluetooth and $399.99 for LTE.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch8 is the general-purpose choice in the 2025 range. It is aimed at everyday smartwatch use, sleep tracking, running, and broader wellness monitoring rather than the traditional-watch styling of the Classic or the outdoor emphasis of the Ultra.

New Watch8 health and wellness features

Running Coach
Assesses a user’s running level and creates a tailored training program. Samsung’s announcement describes coaching functionality, not a replacement for a professional running coach or medical evaluation.
Bedtime Guidance
Recommends when to wind down based on the user’s sleep-related information and routine.
Vascular Load
Monitors vascular-system stress during sleep. The feature should be understood as a wellness metric, not a clinical diagnosis.
Antioxidant Index
Uses the BioActive Sensor to estimate carotenoid levels and provide lifestyle-oriented insights.

These features should not be presented as proving health status, diagnosing disease, or matching the accuracy of clinical equipment. Access may depend on the user’s region, compatible Galaxy phone, Samsung account, software version, supported language, and regulatory clearance. Samsung’s product disclaimers contain additional medical-use limitations.

Galaxy Watch8 Classic: the choice for a physical bezel

The Galaxy Watch8 Classic is a 46mm model with the feature many traditional-watch buyers will care about most: a physical rotating bezel. It also includes a quick button and comes in Black or White.

Its core platform shares the Watch8 family’s direction, including the slimmer cushion-style design language, 3nm processor, dual-frequency GPS, updated BioActive Sensor, Wear OS 6, and One UI 8 Watch. The key distinction is interaction and styling. The rotating bezel provides a tactile way to scroll through menus and notifications, while the larger 46mm case gives the Classic a more substantial traditional-watch presence.

  • Bluetooth U.S. launch price: $499.99.
  • LTE U.S. launch price: $549.99.
  • Colors: Black or White.

Choose the Watch8 Classic if a physical control and conventional watch appearance matter more than having the smallest or lightest option. Choose the standard Watch8 if you prefer two case sizes and a simpler, more contemporary design.

Galaxy Watch Ultra refresh: still the outdoor-focused option

Samsung also listed a refreshed Galaxy Watch Ultra alongside the Watch8 launch. It is more accurate to describe this as an updated or continuing Ultra model associated with the 2025 release than as an entirely new watch family.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Ultra is aimed at outdoor and endurance users. Samsung highlights a titanium body, the longest battery life in its watch lineup, and four titanium finishes, including the new Titanium Blue option. The supplied launch information does not provide a U.S. price for this refresh.

  • TRACK HEALTH PATTERNS¹ IN YOUR SLEEP WITH VITALS²: Stay aware of the subtle changes in your body with Vitals¹–it tracks health metrics while you sleep, catches shifts from your usual patterns, and provides tailored guidance based on the insights.²
  • A PERSONALIZED COACH FOR YOUR FITNESS GOALS: Whether you're building endurance for a long trek or training to build muscle, Fitness Index³ delivers tailored guidance based on your fitness level goals. Finally, train smarter with your fitness watch.
  • EVERYDAY AI ASSISTANCE, SIMPLIFIED: With the Galaxy Watch9, you can just raise your wrist, start talking naturally and get instant AI assistance⁴—no wake phrase needed. This smart watch won’t slow you down.
  • ONE PERSONALIZED SCORE TO KNOW YOUR HEART BETTER: Instead of checking multiple metrics separately, track the single Heart Health Score⁵ based on sleep time, BMI, activity and vascular load to stay aware of your wellness.
  • TRACK YOUR NIGHTS. OWN YOUR DAYS: Galaxy Watch9 gives you personalized recommendations and habit-building guidance with Advanced Sleep Coaching.⁶ Plus, Bedtime Guidance⁷ helps you find your optimal bedtime so you can wake up feeling refreshed.

The buying decision is therefore straightforward: select the Watch Ultra for its outdoor-oriented construction, titanium emphasis, and battery positioning; select the Watch8 for everyday health and smartwatch use; or select the Classic for its physical rotating bezel. Samsung’s claims should not be treated as independent durability, battery, or comfort testing.

One UI 8 and Galaxy AI: the software theme behind the hardware

“Unfold Ultra” was not only a hardware message. Samsung used the event to present One UI 8 as a more natural, multimodal interface for foldables. The Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 launched with Android 16 and One UI 8.

Samsung said One UI 8 was designed around foldable screens and multimodal interaction. It highlighted a Personal Data Engine intended to learn user preferences and Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection intended to isolate and secure information within the app where it is used.

AI features Samsung highlighted

  • Gemini Live: Camera-based and conversational interactions, including use through the Flip7’s FlexWindow.
  • Generative Edit: AI-assisted photo editing on the Fold7.
  • Suggest Erase: Suggestions for removing unwanted people or objects such as passersby.
  • Audio Eraser: Tools for isolating or adjusting multiple sound types.
  • Foldable multitasking: AI responses can appear in pop-up or split-screen views while the user continues working.
  • Now Brief: Personalized information such as schedule details can appear in supported experiences.

AI availability and results are not universal. Some features may require internet access, compatible accounts, supported languages, and supported applications. Samsung said Galaxy AI features would be free through the end of 2025 on supported devices. That was a launch-period policy statement, not a permanent guarantee covering every future Galaxy AI feature or service.

Prices, availability, and what the launch promotions really meant

Device U.S. launch pricing Important configuration note
Galaxy Z Fold7 From $1,999.99 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB options vary by market; 1TB may include 16GB memory.
Galaxy Z Flip7 From $1,099.99 256GB and 512GB.
Galaxy Z Flip7 FE From $899.99 128GB and 256GB, with 8GB memory.
Galaxy Watch8 $349.99 Bluetooth; $399.99 LTE 40mm and 44mm sizes; Bluetooth and LTE variants.
Galaxy Watch8 Classic $499.99 Bluetooth; $549.99 LTE 46mm model with physical rotating bezel.

Samsung promoted launch-period trade-in savings of up to $1,000 for the Fold7, $600 for the Flip7, and $500 for the Flip7 FE. Those figures were tied to launch promotions and eligibility conditions. They should not be quoted as current savings without rechecking Samsung’s live offer, the trade-in device, condition requirements, and the applicable market.

LTE pricing also requires more than choosing a different watch model. Buyers should confirm carrier compatibility, activation requirements, and service costs. A Bluetooth watch is generally the simpler choice if the paired phone is always nearby; LTE is more relevant to users who want connected features away from their phone and are willing to arrange compatible cellular service.

Which Galaxy device should you buy?

If your priority is… Best fit from this launch Why
Large-screen productivity Galaxy Z Fold7 8-inch internal display, foldable multitasking, top-tier processor, and 200MP wide camera.
A compact phone that opens into a full-size smartphone Galaxy Z Flip7 188-gram folded design, 4.1-inch FlexWindow, and flagship-oriented feature set.
The lowest-cost 2025 Samsung Flip Galaxy Z Flip7 FE Starts $200 below the standard Flip7 at U.S. launch, with more modest hardware.
Everyday health and running features Galaxy Watch8 40mm and 44mm choices, updated sensor, GPS, sleep tools, and Running Coach.
A physical rotating bezel Galaxy Watch8 Classic 46mm case, tactile bezel, and quick button.
Outdoor use and battery emphasis Galaxy Watch Ultra Titanium construction, outdoor positioning, and Samsung’s longest-battery claim.

These recommendations are based on Samsung’s published specifications and positioning, not hands-on testing. They should be treated as use-case guidance rather than claims that one product is objectively the best.

Accessories and buying checks

Foldables make accessory compatibility more important than it is for ordinary phones. A Galaxy Z Fold7 case needs to be designed for the Fold7’s exact hinge, camera layout, dimensions, and two-screen construction. A case made for an earlier Fold generation or for the Flip7 should not be assumed to fit. Buyers should also check whether a case interferes with wireless charging, hinge movement, or the cover display.

The same rule applies to screen protectors. The inner foldable display is not interchangeable with a conventional phone screen, and users should follow Samsung’s care instructions rather than applying an arbitrary third-party protector. For watches, a Galaxy Watch8 replacement band should be matched to the correct case size and connector before purchase; 40mm, 44mm, and 46mm models should not be treated as automatically interchangeable.

For official configurations, trade-in terms, warranty information, and Samsung accessories, readers can buy Galaxy Z Fold7 from Samsung or compare the company’s device pages. Readers considering installments or cellular connectivity can also compare Galaxy Z Fold7 carrier deals, but carrier pricing, trade-in credits, stock, and eligibility change frequently. Samsung.com, carriers, and major electronics retailers are separate purchase paths, not interchangeable offers.

What Samsung announced—and what it did not prove

  • The event established Samsung’s published designs, specifications, launch prices, software features, and availability plans.
  • It did not establish independent camera rankings, battery tests, durability results, or long-term hinge reliability.
  • It did not establish that Watch8 health metrics are medical diagnoses or substitutes for clinical equipment.
  • It did not guarantee that every AI or health feature would work in every country, language, app, or Galaxy-phone combination.
  • It did not make launch trade-in values permanent.
  • It did not make every storage configuration, color, LTE model, or accessory available in every market.

That distinction matters most for the watches. Running Coach, Bedtime Guidance, Vascular Load, and Antioxidant Index may be useful wellness tools, but their availability and interpretation depend on Samsung’s software, supported hardware, region, and regulatory conditions. They should be considered features to evaluate—not medical conclusions.
