1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsChoose the Garmin Enduro 4 for the longer Garmin-rated battery life, lower weight and lower launch price in a 51 mm watch. Choose the fēnix 9 Pro Solar if you need a 47 mm option or want features such as wrist calls, a dive computer or optional inReach communication. The battery figures are manufacturer estimates, and the solar ratings assume substantial daily sun exposure—not typical-use guarantees.
Battery life: how much longer does the Enduro 4 last?
Comparing the 51 mm solar models, Garmin’s published figures give the Enduro 4 the edge in each listed mode. The detailed model-by-model figures below were collated by the5krunner from Garmin specifications; they are ratings, not results from an independent battery test.
| Mode | Enduro 4, 51 mm | fēnix 9 Pro Solar, 51 mm |
|---|---|---|
| Smartwatch, without solar | 36 days | 30 days |
| Smartwatch, with solar | Up to 90 days | Up to 57 days |
| Activity, without solar | 80 hours | 75 hours |
| Activity, with solar | Up to 144 hours | Up to 124 hours |
| Extended-battery activity, without solar | 120 hours | 100 hours |
| Extended-battery activity, with solar | Up to 320 hours | Up to 211 hours |
Those solar maxima depend on conditions. Garmin says the Enduro 4’s 90-day smartwatch estimate assumes all-day wear and three hours outdoors per day at 50,000 lux. Its 320-hour activity estimate assumes continuous use in extended-battery activity mode at 50,000 lux. Garmin gives the same all-day wear and three-hours-at-50,000-lux-per-day assumption for the fēnix solar smartwatch estimate. Less sun, different tracking settings and other use can reduce runtime; compare the non-solar figures if those assumptions do not fit your routine. Garmin’s Enduro 4 announcement and its fēnix 9 and 9 Pro announcement describe the manufacturer’s claims.
Size, weight and construction
The Enduro 4 is available in 51 mm only. The fēnix 9 Pro Solar offers 47 mm and 51 mm sizes, making it the practical choice between these two if a 51 mm watch is too large. The5krunner reports weights of 66 g for the Enduro 4 with its fabric band, 84 g for the 47 mm fēnix Solar and 102 g for the 51 mm fēnix Solar. The Enduro is therefore 36 g lighter than the 51 mm comparison, though the watches use different case constructions.

No. Both are outdoor and multisport watches, but their feature emphasis differs. Garmin highlights endurance tools on Enduro 4, while the5krunner identifies wrist calls over Bluetooth, voice commands and a dive computer on fēnix 9 Pro that are not listed on Garmin’s Enduro 4 page.

Why choose Enduro 4
- Endurance-oriented power modes and longer rated battery life.
- Grade-adjusted pace and enhanced stamina tools.
- Multicontinent TopoActive maps, more than 100 activity profiles, an LED flashlight and Garmin Epic multiday activity logging, according to Garmin.
- 64 GB of memory, per Garmin’s US announcement.
Why choose fēnix 9 Pro Solar
- Wrist calls and voice commands if you want communication functions through a paired phone.
- A dive computer if diving is part of your use.
- A 47 mm size option.
- Optional inReach satellite and LTE services on select fēnix 9 Pro models.
Do not assume every fēnix 9 Pro Solar includes inReach: it depends on the specific model. Garmin says an active plan is required, LTE coverage is not available everywhere, and satellite and SOS services have limitations. Check Garmin’s fēnix announcement and the requirements for your exact model and intended locations before relying on those services. The product family name alone does not establish screen type, communication hardware or service availability.
Display and model choice
Enduro 4 has a 1.4-inch MIP display, according to Garmin. The fēnix 9 Pro family includes AMOLED variants as well as solar charging models. Since the family spans different screens and configurations, confirm the exact fēnix SKU rather than applying a specification from an AMOLED model to the Solar version—or vice versa. Screen preference can outweigh a battery advantage: choose by the display you want on your wrist, not just the family name.
