The January update was distributed to the Venu 4, Venu X1, and vívoactive 6, but it was a maintenance release rather than a major feature upgrade. Garmin’s official notes list “changes to support manufacturing” plus “various bug fixes and improvements”; they do not identify new health metrics, battery improvements, GPS enhancements, or other user-facing features.
The rollout began on January 19, 2026, and was phased. Garmin said compatible watches could receive the software through Garmin Connect, Garmin Express, or the watch itself, and that availability could take about a week. This release is no longer the latest firmware story for these watches: later 2026 updates introduced more visible features and addressed additional bugs.
Which Garmin watches received version 15.52?
The confirmed supported models are:
- Garmin Venu 4
- Garmin Venu X1
- Garmin vívoactive 6
Garmin’s official Venu 4 and Venu X1 support records list version 15.52 for January 2026. Garmin’s official vívoactive 6 forum announcement records the same version and explains that it could be installed through Garmin Connect, Garmin Express, or the watch’s software-update menu.
Some secondary coverage has included older devices such as the Venu 3, Venu 3S, vívoactive 5, and Venu Sq 2. Those models are not supported by the primary version 15.52 records used for this report, so they should not be treated as confirmed recipients of this particular update.
What did Garmin 15.52 change?
Garmin’s changelog is unusually short:
“Changes to support manufacturing” and “various bug fixes and improvements.”

The wording does not explain what manufacturing support means. It could relate to production, components, or an internal manufacturing process, but Garmin has not published enough information to establish which. It is better not to interpret that line as a consumer feature announcement.
Garmin also did not list the individual bugs fixed. As a result, there is no official basis for saying that version 15.52 specifically improved battery life, GPS accuracy, heart-rate tracking, sleep tracking, notifications, or any other particular function. Those types of improvements may be desirable outcomes of firmware maintenance, but they should not be attributed to 15.52 without separate evidence.
How the rollout worked
The rollout began on January 19, 2026, according to T3, and was staged rather than immediately available to every eligible owner. At the time of that report, approximately 20% of users had received the update.
Recommended Free Tools
A phased rollout does not necessarily mean that a watch is incompatible. Garmin says an update can take up to about a week to download after release. Availability can therefore differ between otherwise identical watches, regions, and update channels.
Install through Garmin Connect
Keep the watch paired with the Garmin Connect app and the phone connected to the internet. Garmin’s normal update process can download and transfer compatible software automatically. Keep the watch charged during the process and do not interrupt it while the installation is underway.

Install through Garmin Express
Connect the watch to a computer running Garmin Express. If version 15.52 is available for the device, Garmin Express should offer the update. This is a useful alternative when the phone-based process has not offered the software or when you prefer a wired connection.
Check on the watch
For the vívoactive 6, Garmin’s announcement gives this menu path:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Menu > Settings > System > Software Update
Other Garmin models may use slightly different labels or menu arrangements. If the update does not appear, leave the watch connected to Garmin Connect or check again later rather than assuming that the model is excluded.
What to do if version 15.52 is not available
- Confirm the model. Check that the watch is a Venu 4, Venu X1, or vívoactive 6. Similar model names do not prove eligibility.
- Allow time for staged delivery. Garmin’s guidance says availability may take about a week after release.
- Try another official channel. Check Garmin Connect, Garmin Express, and the watch’s own software-update screen.
- Use a stable connection and sufficient charge. A failed transfer can be a connection or power problem rather than an eligibility problem.
- Do not expect a feature list. The official 15.52 notes describe maintenance changes, not a large user-facing feature package.
If the watch is already on a newer version, there is no reason to downgrade to 15.52. Firmware releases supersede earlier versions, and the later release history is more relevant to current troubleshooting.
Version 15.52 is not the latest 2026 software
The January release should now be understood as an early-2026 maintenance milestone, not as the current firmware status of these watches. Garmin’s support records reviewed on August 12, 2026 show later releases for all three product families.

| Watch | Later release recorded by Garmin | Examples of later changes or fixes |
|---|---|---|
| Venu 4 | Version 17.37, July 2026 | Treadmill-calibration accuracy, golf-related resets, and shorter-than-expected battery life |
| Venu X1 | Versions 16.28, 16.37, 17.33, and 17.37 were listed through July 2026 | Weight tracking, training guidance, battery information, sports-team tracking, voice alerts, Garmin Golf compatibility, silent mode, and stability-related changes |
| vívoactive 6 | Version 16.37, March 2026 | Headphone and HIIT crashes, goal-alert behavior, pool-swim tracking, course-planner performance, and other minor bugs |
These later notes are important context: if an owner is troubleshooting a current issue, checking only whether version 15.52 installed will not provide the full picture. The watch may already need, or already have, a later release.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFebruary 2026 brought the more visible feature changes
Garmin announced a broader feature update on February 24, 2026, for select smartwatches. The announcement covered enhanced gear tracking, course planning, sports scores, Garmin Fitness Coach, sleep-alignment tools, and other features. Availability varied by model.
The compatibility table in Garmin’s announcement shows that the Venu X1, Venu 4, and vívoactive 6 received different subsets of those capabilities. This is separate from version 15.52 and should not be described as part of the January maintenance release.
Should you buy a watch because of version 15.52?
No. Version 15.52 is not, by itself, a strong buying reason. Garmin did not announce a new health sensor, training feature, battery extension, display capability, or other headline upgrade in the changelog.
The Garmin vívoactive 6 smartwatch remains a relevant product for readers considering a mainstream Garmin health-and-fitness watch. Garmin introduced it in April 2025 with an AMOLED display, up to 11 days of battery life, Body Battery, sleep coaching, HRV status, sports apps, Garmin Pay, and music support. Its launch suggested retail price was $299.99, but that is a historical launch figure—not a current price or a guarantee of present availability.

Venu 4
The Venu 4 is one of the confirmed 15.52 recipients and later received version 17.37 in July 2026. It is the more appropriate comparison for shoppers who want a newer Venu-family option rather than the vívoactive line.
Venu X1
The Garmin Venu X1 was also confirmed for 15.52 and had several later releases during 2026. Its later software history makes clear that Garmin treats it as a distinct product with a different feature set; do not assume that every February feature update available on the X1 also appeared on the Venu 4 or vívoactive 6.
vívoactive 6
The vívoactive 6 is the clearest match for readers following this particular update because Garmin explicitly included it in the 15.52 announcement. Existing owners should update through an official channel when offered, while buyers should compare its current hardware and price against the Venu models rather than paying a premium solely for an old maintenance release.

Bottom line for owners
If you own a Venu 4, Venu X1, or vívoactive 6, version 15.52 was a legitimate January 2026 maintenance update, not a major redesign. Install it when Garmin offers it, but do not expect a prominent new feature or a documented fix for a specific battery, GPS, sensor, or notification problem.
For current performance, check the watch’s latest available software instead. By August 2026, Garmin’s records showed versions 17.37 for the Venu 4, later 17-series releases for the Venu X1, and version 16.37 for the vívoactive 6. Those later updates contain the more specific fixes and feature changes that matter to current owners.
